After seeing @friendlymoose’s post about the ongoing contests on the platform, I was reminded of CCC’s Street Art Contest. I decided to squeeze it into today’s schedule, and since I was passing by the Kampong Glam area, I thought I’d check out a spot to see if I could find something interesting to photograph.
I arrived around noon with the sun high in the sky. The weather was nice, but it was also really warm, so I didn’t plan to spend too long on this street art hunt. Luckily, after a 15-minute leisurely walk, I found an intriguing piece. Navigating the area can be confusing because of the many alleys, but I managed.
The artwork I found seemed to be inside a private property, and the gate was locked, so I couldn’t get too close. That wasn’t a problem since it wasn’t too far from the fence. I stretched my hand through the bars to get a closer shot of the street art.
It’s funny—I felt a bit nervous while taking the photo, worried the property owner might shout at me for acting suspicious along their fence, haha. But I didn’t let it bother me and went ahead with capturing the photos.
As I looked to the right, I noticed an artist working on the other side of the fence, creating a new piece. It was so cool to see a street artist in action, especially since this was the second time I’d witnessed something like that.
Not wanting to disturb him, I quietly snapped a few shots of the artwork from that side of the fence, which also had some nice pieces.
After that, I walked toward the bus stop and stumbled upon another interesting artwork. It spanned an entire wall. From the way it looked, I thought it would make a great background for someone passing in front of it.
Sure enough, a couple approached the artwork, and I patiently waited until they were in just the right spot. I captured the moment, and the photo turned out as if the artwork was exploding from their minds.
It wasn’t perfect, but I didn’t have a second chance for a shot since no one else was walking by. So, I called it a day and moved on.
It was a quick but rewarding street art hunt, and I’m glad I managed to capture a few unique moments. I’m looking forward to exploring more hidden gems around the city next time!
