I attached a plank from a pallet to my fence, and now have begun to refer to is as the Crow Bar…it’s a peanut bar for crows!
…except, no crows seem to be showing up - even with all these delicious peanuts up for grabs!
I moved the bar over to a corner of the yard to help it feel a little more like a private space for my crow-bros, but still never saw any come to jam out on the fresh unsalted peanuts - so I decided to add the first official member to my crow family: meet Crowdey Coy!
Crowdey is a cheap plastic crow decoy I got for just under $10 on amazon. He actually arrived with his stand broken, so I tried to return him for a new one but they said just keep him and we’ll send a new one…so soon there will be two!
The legs/base can be separated from the main body, so I popped him apart - and made sure there were no crows watching the gruesome teardown - then I screwed the base to the wooden plank and reassembled him.
Crowdey looks very handsome on his perch - so I’m sure he will soon attract many friends. Plus I’m sure he will be bery generous, and will be very happy to share his bounty of peanuts with hungry travelers :)
…although I have had no luck so far, I did have a dream the other night that a murder of crows was circling over head, and one swooped down and landed on my shoulder - which I take as a sign that my friends are en route!
More updates to come, hopefully soon we will start meeting real crows and building new friendships!
