On the last day we could say that we ended Takemura's quest line, as he sadly ended up dying in the building collapse. Although by doing this we got a new quest line, as we have reached an agreement with Hanako Arasaka to help each other. However, before I go on with this, I want to continue with Judy/Evelyn's story, which in case you don't remember, in previous chapters we rescued Evelyn from a group of bandits who were mistreating her to record different types of videos.
We were supposed to investigate the voodoo children, since in Evelyn's memories we saw symbology that pointed to this group. However, as I was on my way to the voodoo children's lair, I received a message from Judy telling me to go to her apartment. At first I thought this would be the typical tertiary mission, but as we enter the apartment we see Evelyn dead in the bathtub and Judy crying.
Apparently the trauma she suffered has been so strong that she couldn't stand it and while Judy was out shopping, she took the opportunity to take her own life. This left me quite confused, I mean, we were supposed to investigate the children of Voodoo to help her, but now that she has committed suicide, what should we do? Judy will tell us that she needs time, that she wants to be alone, and that she will call the ER to pick up Evelyn's body. To my surprise, when we leave the apartment we will still have the mission to visit the children of Voodoo, I thought that with Evelyn's death this mission would be canceled or changed, but no.
I headed to the lair of the sons of voodoo, when we arrive we will talk to a certain Placide, we will tell him that we want to meet with Brigitte, who seems to be the leader of this group. Brigitte is supposed to be the one who hired Evelyn to hire us to steal the biochip. So, we have faith that this Brigitte can help us get this chip out of our heads.
But well, before we get to her, we will have to complete a mission for Placide and gain her trust. The mission consists of entering an abandoned shopping mall that was taken over by a group of bandits who call themselves "animals". In the heart of this mall is found a computer with some valuable data, our goal is to steal the data. As always, we can decide whether to infiltrate stealthily or go head on killing everyone. In my case I decided to go stealthily, sneaking around corners without attracting attention.
However, as we advance, we will end up encountering an agent of NetWatch, a corporation focused on the control of the network. The agent will try to make us leave the place using different methods such as putting signs on the posters or accessing our brains.
At a certain point we will reach a place guarded by a large enemy. Here there will be no option to be stealthy, as soon as we set foot in this area a battle will begin against him. This enemy will use a large hammer to perform their attacks, we will have to move to the sides to dodge while shooting. The combat was not a big deal.
When we defeat him, we will access the cinema of the mall, the equipment with the data we must steal is supposed to be here. However, when we enter the movie theater we will meet the Netwatch agent. This guy infiltrated here to steal the data from the children of voodoo.
The agent will try to convince us to work together. He will tell us that the sons of voodoo have tricked us and that, as soon as we finish stealing the data, they will activate a virus in our system that will leave us fried. We will be able to decide if we trust him or we continue with the plan to steal the data for the voodoo's children. Considering that Netwatch is a corpo, and big corporations are supposed to be the "bad guys" here, I decided not to trust it.
But, when we recover the data, we will see how we suffer some kind of attack and pass out. Apparently the agent was not lying, the voodoo children did put a virus in our system and had planned to kill us as soon as we finish the job. The reason why we are alive is because of Jhonny's biochip, thanks to that the virus didn't kill us. Upset by what has happened we will leave the mall and go directly to Placide.
When we arrive, we will begin to argue, but Brigitte, the woman we are looking for, will quickly appear. We will tell Brigitte that the chip she wants is embedded in our head and if she can help us. At this point she will take us deep into her lair.
In the depths of the lair, we will discover that the children of voodoo are a very technologically developed group of sorts. Here it is impossible for me not to think of Marvel's Wakanda. Have you seen Black Panther? It's the same. But well, here the story starts to get pretty complicated, to the point that I have doubts about how to write this.
The biochip embedded in our brains is supposed to help us break through the "Black Wall". The Black Wall is a cybernetic barrier imposed by corporations to keep future technologies at bay. The Sons of Voodoo want to use me to break through the Black Wall and access a server that contains a fragment of an artificial intelligence known as Alt Cunningham. Alt Cunningham is a very powerful AI that has the ability to break through the Black Wall on its own. The Sons of Voodoo want to obtain its power and use it because, according to them, technological chaos is coming and they want to be prepared.
They will tell me that I should get into a bathtub with ice before carrying out the process, but, it seems to me a good time to end the publication for today. I have a feeling that what is to come from here on is extensive and this is taking too long, so we'll see what happens next day when I get in that tub. El ultimo día podríamos decir que finalizamos la línea de misiones de Takemura, ya que tristemente acabó muriendo en el derrumbe del edificio. Aunque al hacer esto obtuvimos una nueva línea de misiones, ya que hemos llegado a un acuerdo con Hanako Arasaka para ayudarnos mutuamente. Sin embargo, antes de seguir con esto, quiero continuar con la historia de Judy/Evelyn, que por si no lo recuerdan, en capítulos anteriores rescatamos a Evelyn de un grupo de bandidos que la estaban maltratando para grabar distintos tipos de vídeos.
Se supone que debemos investigar sobre los hijos del vudú, ya que en los recuerdos de Evelyn vimos simbología que apuntaba a este grupo. Sin embargo, mientras me dirigía a la guarida de los hijos del vudú, recibí un mensaje de Judy diciéndome que fuera a su departamento. Al principio pensé que esto sería la típica misión terciaria, pero al entrar al departamento vemos a Evelyn muerta en la bañera y Judy llorando.
Al parecer el trauma que sufrió ha sido tan fuerte que no soportó y mientras Judy salió a hacer la compra, aprovechó para quitarse la vida. Esto me dejó bastante confuso, osea, se supone que investigaríamos a los hijos del Vudú para ayudarla a ella, pero ahora que se ha suicidado ¿Qué debemos hacer? Judy nos dirá que necesita tiempo, que quiere estar sola y que llamará a urgencias para que recojan el cuerpo de Evelyn. Para mi sorpresa, al salir del departamento aún tendremos la misión de visitar a los hijos del Vudú, pensaba que con la muerte de Evelyn esta misión se cancelaría o cambiaría, pero no.
Me dirigí a la guarida de los hijos del vudú, al llegar hablaremos con un tal Placide, le diremos que queremos reunirnos con Brigitte, la que parece ser la líder de este grupo. Se supone que Brigitte fue la que contrató a Evelyn para que nos contratase a nosotros y robásemos el biochip. Entonces, tenemos fe de que esta Brigitte pueda ayudarnos a sacarnos este chip de la cabeza.
Pero bueno, antes de llegar a ella, deberemos cumplir una misión para Placide y ganarnos su confianza. La misión consiste en entrar en un centro comercial abandonado que fue tomado por un grupo de bandidos que se hacen llamar “animales”. En el corazón de este centro comercial se encuentra un equipo con unos datos valiosos, nuestro objetivo es robar los datos. Como siempre, podremos decidir si infiltrarnos sigilosamente o ir de frente matando a todos. En mi caso decidí ir con sigilo, escabulléndome por los rincones sin llamar la atención.
Aunque, conforme más avancemos, terminaremos encontrándonos un agente de NetWatch, una corporación enfocada en el control de la red. El agente intentará que nos marchemos del lugar llevando a cabo distintos métodos como ponernos señales en los carteles o accediendo a nuestro cerebro.
En un determinado momento llegaremos a un lugar custodiado por un gran enemigo. Aquí no habrá opcion de ser sigilosos, apenas pisemos esta zona comenzará una batalla en su contra. Este enemigo usará un gran martillo para realizar sus ataques, habrá que ir moviéndonos a los lados para esquivarlo mientras disparamos. El combate no fue la gran cosa.
Cuando lo derrotemos, accederemos al cine del centro comercial, se supone que aquí está el equipo con los datos que debemos robar. Sin embargo, al entrar en la sala de cine nos encontraremos con el agente de Netwatch. Este tipo se infiltró aquí para robar los datos de los hijos del vudú.
El agente intentará convencernos de trabajar juntos. Nos dirá que los hijos del vudú nos han engañado y que, apenas terminemos de robar los datos, activaran un virus en nuestro sistema que nos dejará fritos. Podremos decidir si confiamos en él o seguimos con el plan de robar los datos para los hijos del vudú. Teniendo en cuenta de que Netwatch es una corpo, y se supone que las grandes corporaciones son los “malos” aquí, decidí no confiar en él.
Pero, al recuperar los datos, veremos como sufrimos algún tipo de ataque y nos desmayamos. Al parecer el agente no mentía, los hijos del vudú si nos metieron un virus en el sistema y tenían planeado matarnos apenas terminemos con el trabajo. La razón por la que estamos vivos es por el biochip de Jhonny, gracias a eso el virus no nos mató. Molestos por lo que ha ocurrido saldremos del centro comercial e iremos directamente con Placide.
Al llegar comenzaremos a discutir, pero rápidamente aparecerá Brigitte, la mujer que estamos buscando. Le diremos a Brigitte que el chip que ella quiere lo tenemos incrustado en la cabeza y que si pueda ayudarnos. En este momento nos llevará a lo profundo de su guarida.
En las profundidades de la guarida, descubriremos que los hijos del vudú son una especie de grupo muy desarrollado tecnológicamente. Aquí me es imposible no pensar en Wakanda, de Marvel ¿Han visto Black Panther? Es igual. Pero bueno, aquí la historia comienza a complicarse bastante, al punto de que tengo dudas sobre como redactar esto.
Se supone que el biochip que tenemos incrustado en el cerebro nos ayudará a traspasar el "Muro Negro". El Muro Negro es una barrera cibernética impuesta por las corporaciones para mantener a raya a las futuras tecnologías. Los Hijos del Vudú quieren usarme para atravesar dicho muro y acceder a un servidor que contiene un fragmento de una inteligencia artificial conocida como Alt Cunningham. Alt Cunningham es una IA muy poderosa que tiene la capacidad de atravesar el Muro Negro por sí sola. Los Hijos del Vudú quieren obtener su poder y utilizarlo porque, según ellos, el caos tecnológico se acerca y quieren estar preparados.
Me dirán que debo entrar en una bañera con hielos antes de llevar a cabo el proceso, pero, me parece buen momento para acabar la publicación por hoy. Me da la sensación de que lo que está por pasar de aquí en adelante es extenso y esto se me está alargando demasiado, por lo que ya veremos qué ocurre el próximo día cuando me meta en esa bañera. Por último, me gustaría desear a todos los miembros de la comunidad una muy feliz navidad, espero que lo hayan pasado bien en nochebuena.
