A Close Call And A Reminder Of Life's Fragility

Today happens to be the busiest day of my life since this year started, all in a bid to add value to my life by investing in my personal growth through furthering my education in a course I've only dreamed of but never taken action to bring it to reality due to some obstacles, finances included, thanks to hive and my side business, it is no longer just a dream but already in motion. I had to look beyond the doubt and become optimistic, it was a bit challenging going over the stress of becoming a student all over again, it's been over five years since I signed out of this stress thinking I had done my bit, not knowing that my ever-ambitious self would still have the guts to trail this path, though stressful, it was exciting, here is a cheer to more years of value and growth.

I would still draft a proper post about this huge step I've taken, but I just couldn't go straight to today's edition topic without letting the excitement of my today's accomplishment take over, also witnessing an event on my way back from school today that kind of relate with the topic after I was done with my school's activity for today, I boarded a BRT bus, which is the more comfortable means of public transport owned by the government to my nearest bus stop from home. The reason I prefer these buses is because the drivers are cautioned and have to adhere to the safety rules or would be reported, unlike the privately owned buses who are their own boss and don't have to answer to anybody, so they could do anyhow they chose to, some even drink alcohol before handling the steering also particularly since most of these bus drivers are dominated by touts.

It was a smooth journey, even though I was tired, very hungry, and looking forward to the comfort of my home, I still felt quite comfortable and was grateful the bus wasn't overcrowded today while wandering away in my thoughts, suddenly we heard a loud screeching incoming noise followed by our bus being glided by a Tipper or trailer, I'm not sure of the right description to use for this type of vehicle, used in transporting sands, my heart skipped, in a flash, I don't know how I found myself crashing close to the exit of the vehicle, likewise the other passengers, we sardined ourself at the exit as the bus tilted to one corner, the most amazing or should I say the miraculous event was how an old man who could barely walk with his walking stick when he boarded the bus earlier also ran as fast as he could to the jammed exit.

There is one popular saying in my country which states that 'No one wants to die but we all want to make heaven" This event proves it just right because a while ago, some passengers were painstakingly lamenting about the deteriorating state of our economy and the ongoing inflation also how life has become tiring for most of them to live, but the moment accident struck, everyone skampered for the exit in a bid to save their lives, this is the closest I've ever been to escaping death because the trailer glided right next to the window area of the bus which I was seated by, it seemed to have failed its break, and the only object the stupid driver thought of putting a halt to the heavy duty vehicle was a fully loaded coaster bus, I can't help but imagine if the impact had been more than that, or if the tire's screeching noise hadn't alerted us few seconds before the impact, this just shows how delicate the life we live is, it can take less than a nano second to lose our precious life.

I am grateful and very emotional because I can pen this experience, and not a victim of an unfortunate circumstance today, I wonder what the headline would have read if things took a wrong turn of events. in our shaky state, another bus was provided to convey us to our destination, although not everyone took the bus this time, I did, since it wasn't the fault of the driver and I had already paid for my T-fare because we witnessed a nonpalatable experience with the first bus doesn't mean we would encounter the same occurrence with the next.

Life is Precious, live it well and be thankful for every moment you've got are my life lessons from this experience.
