More Flowers Opening & Buds on the Move ..
We decided, at sort of the last minute, to go away this past weekend .. We packed up the car and left to journey to the very southern tip of Delaware, to visit with my parents. We stayed a few days. It was the first trip down without Molly. We both were sort of depressed about that. She loved sitting on the center console between us, and being a 7 pound dog, she didn't take up any room at all.
We wiped those tears away .. Gave Molly and Pepper a short goodbye, and left a little angel in the kitchen window to watch over them, and the Orchids, while we were gone for a few days. As you can see in that first photo, she stands proud and with watchful eyes, next to a flower I recently cut off one of our Phalaenopsis orchids.
The Angel Did A Wonderful Job ..
She kept a nice eye on things .. Because upon our return, nothing was dead (Plus, Plus) and the plants that were blooming appeared not to miss us at all. They continued to grow and show us how happy they are.
The White Phalaenopsis Now Has Four Flowers!
It's hard to see them all, but I assure you there are four buds that are now open.
Looks like there are three more that will open soon .. And I am not counting on that fourth one (the tiny one at the tip) to open. Sometimes they do develop when all of the others are done opening, but most often those tiny end bulbs do nothing at all. I will eventually clip the whole thing off after all the flowers fall to the floor, so the plant can work on recovering from the stress of the blooming event.
And The Cattleya!
Just seven short days ago .. Those two buds were pretty tightly packed together. They are now well on their way to opening and have started to branch apart. Any day now.. maybe even tomorrow, they will begin to pop open. We will have three beautiful red flowers to be proud of when that finally happens.
7 Days Ago ------- And Today
Once they open up, I will get a nice photograph of all three flowers for you.
Until then she sits by the back door, soaking up all of that bright, warm sunshine.
Like Always
I Will Update You On Any New Developments!
“The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud --- the obstacles of life and its suffering. ... The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. ... Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one."
