For you who are new here, Taco Tuesday is our Tuesday themed post in Free Compliment Community and it is about about FOOD!!! Be a Foodie today, share any of your meal, dishes, or food that can light up our day here!!

Same as last week I am promoting another dishes from Indonesia again, It's called Somay Bandung, some might call it "Somay" only, both are the same.

    Somay Bandung

Two words Here, Bandung and Somay. Lets start with Somay first. Somay stands for Shumai or Shumay, a traditional Chinese Dumpling. Yes this is actually an adapted food from Chinese or Cantonese dish. The second word, Bandung, is a city on West Jave. So it means this food is from chinese dish that is adapted and modified by local people in Bandung... Then got famous and spread widely all over Indonesia.

In general, this is not a main dish or some lunch or dinner. It is a snack or appetizer and mostly sold by street vendors. It consist mainly the dumpling with some vegetables and other stuff, all are steamed. Then they are chopped and served with savory peanut sauce.

I won't made this as a long narration, because I believe dumplings is already well known everywhere in this world... so lets get to the main topic here... My Somay Bandung Dish

    My Order

This is the dumpling... they don't look interesting, because they will be chopped so no need to make it look good right now. Definitely they are very different with the traditional shumay which are open topped and having some carrot garnish. The shumay in Somay Bandung is more like a big meatball, and it is a meatball afterall.

This is the steamer, we pick some item from those... Usually only 5-6 pieces and not one piece from all type. You can ask the server to pick a set but still they will ask you some preferences such as "do you want the white tofu or the brown tofu" or "Do you want an egg?" "ok with bitter melon?

Don't Blame them, because all of those question will decide how much is your dish and how it taste. Some who do not like veggie won't touch bitter mellon and cabbage. Some people here do not like bitter melon, well... because it taste bitter.

This is how they look now. Those steamed stuff are chopped then poured with savory peanut sauce. I add some sweat soy and chili sauce. I add some lime too to add some flavor.

I like eggs, and I use to add an egg every time I order a street food because it helps you getting the right nutrient for your body. Most of street food focuses on the taste and price only, so we can not expect they will be healthy and hygienist all the time. Picking up food which we know well having a good nutrients is very essential for a longer term health.

I ordered this as an iftar, for breaking the fasting. So I added potato there, a good source for extra calories. But do you know that although potato is the source of calory, they have a good amount of vitamin C, B and some minerals need by your health? Rather than taking too many flour based food, I prefer to take potato, especially like this one only steamed/boiled one. It's better for my health.

Ok all, that's my Taco Tuesdays post Thank you very much for your time here.
