    Ruleset Focus

This week's Battle Mage Secrets challenge revolves around the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset, allowing all Monsters to attack from any position and target the enemy with the lowest Health.

In such a battle, you could effectively predict where the attacks from your opponent is going to land by strategically crafting your lineup! In the below battle, I will showcase how to use the ruleset to my advantage! 🤓

    The Battle

In my main account, ak08, I was able to engage in a battle that involves the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset in a Guild Brawl. To get right into the action, the battle link can be found here. Otherwise, do read on as I go into more detail regarding the lineup and fight.

Let's begin by diving into the ruleset governing this battle. Firstly, there's the Unprotected ruleset, which entails the stripping of all Armor statistics from Monsters throughout the battle. Following that, we have the main highlight of this week's challenge, the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset, which we've thoroughly explored in the preceding sections. Lastly, we confront the What Doesn't Kill You ruleset, which grants all Monsters the Enrage ability at the battle's outset. The battle imposes a mana restriction of 25 and prohibits the use of the Water Splinter.

As mentioned, this battle took place within a Guild Brawl, introducing supplementary constraints based on the particular fray you engaged in. In my case, I participated in a fray aligned with Silver League level caps ✌️

    Summoner, Scarred Llama Mage

When faced with the rules allowing the Earth Splinter and setting a mana limit of 25, a particular strategy springs to mind instantly. It revolves around utilizing the Scarred Llama Mage as the Summoner. This Summoner has the unique ability to bolster the entire team with a +2 Health stat and remove all debuffs from the friendly Monster in the first position every round. But most importantly, it grants all Monsters the Last Stand ability! 😏

    First Position, Hill Grant

I chose Hill Giant as my tank in this battle because of its cost efficiency. With a mere 3 mana cost, it boasts a respectable 6 Health stat, providing ample time for my strategy to unfold. In accordance with the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY ruleset, units with lower Health stats will be targeted first, particularly those in the backline. By allowing time for this dynamic to take effect, I can swiftly shift the battle's momentum in my favor! 😉

    Second Position, Fungus Flinger

Fungus Flinger consistently occupies a significant spot in my team lineup, regardless of the Earth Splinter's composition. Although it may lack notable offensive or defensive prowess, it shines in its designated role as a sacrificial unit, offering support to the main performer in the current battle. By strategically placing Fungus Flinger in front of the Quora Towershead, I can effectively utilize its Martyr ability, thus granting crucial stat enhancements upon its demise! 😅

    Third Position, Quora Towershead

As one of the scarce Monsters boasting hybrid proficiency, Quora Towershead demonstrates the ability to deal both Melee and Magic damage. When triggered, the Bloodlust ability, a distinctive trait of Gladius Monsters, enhances Quora Towershead, turning it into a formidable force. Although it cannot utilize its Melee attack from the backline, the primary aim is for Quora Towershead to withstand until the battle concludes, thus activating the Last Stand ability! 😝

    Last Position, Venari Marksrat

Much like the Fungus Flinger, the Venari Marksrat from the Neutral Splinter excels in its assigned role as a sacrificial unit, providing support to the primary performer in the ongoing battle. Placing Venari Marksrat strategically behind the Quora Towershead allows me to effectively employ its Martyr ability, thereby bestowing essential stat enhancements upon its demise! 😅

    The Analysis

To be frank, I didn't dedicate much thought to this battle and simply went ahead with forming my lineup. This departure from my typical approach, which usually involves strategizing and crafting plans based on my opponent's potential moves, was quite rare.

Given the EQUAL OPPORTUNITY rulesets in place, I anticipated that the opponent would focus on targeting the two weakest units in my lineup: the Venari Marksrat and the Fungus Flinger. Upon the demise of these Monsters, each bestows a Martyr boost to their adjacent unit, strategically enhancing the Quora Towershead in this scenario! 😁

After my relatively weak lineup was decimated, Quora Towershead emerged, activating its Last Stand ability and experiencing a remarkable surge in power. Despite enduring significant damage from the opposing forces, Quora Towershead persevered and quickly recovered using the Heal ability. By dispatching the enemy's units, it further boosted its attributes through the Bloodlust ability. Ultimately, Quora Towershead emerged as the sole victor, single-handedly securing my triumph! 😎
