Cutting of Stencil: A skill learned as a child, but still relevant and useful to me.

I won't be wrong in any way to say that no knowledge is a waste in this life. However, some become obsolete with time but at some point it was useful and relevant. This is applied to a skill I learned at my very young age. I could vividly recall how disinterested some of my friends were at the time when one of our high school teachers organized a class for cutting of stencils. We were in junior class two and the class was not free of charge. Some of my mates who initially developed an interest stayed back since it was a paid lesson.

I had some savings, so I broke my savings box and paid for the class. The lesson lasted for three weeks only and in that class, we were taught how to skillfully write different alphabets with proper measurements. Moreover, we were taught how to carve out these letters out of a stencil.

As at the time of attending those classes, I did not know that such a skill would ever be useful or relevant in my life. At the end of the lesson, I spent most of my holidays cutting lots of stencils and printing them on surfaces. As a result of this, my father was thrilled at my expertise, so he asked me to print some words on his car. And as a missionary as he was he asked me to print these words “Repent for the kingdom of God is at hand”. During this time I was barely 12 years old.

I printed lots of signposts for churches and organizations and I was paid for it. As at that time, I did not have a mobile phone, I would have loved to share some of those works here. However, as I grew up and went to a higher institution, I stopped doing the job but the idea still remained with me.

To bring the idea to light, I engaged in the holozing fanart contest from the holozing community and it has been rewarding doing so. Apart from this, I am still open to doing some printing jobs on T-shirts and plain surfaces. No knowledge is truly a waste. It might not be useful at some point but definitely it will be useful.
