Independence: Living the Life

    Greetings

Have you ever been pressured to look for a means of through which you can get support from people around and then you come to realize that what you actually get is advice and not the support? Have you been so tired of being “deep pockets” that you go out by yourself to look for something to do? These are rhetorical and the same reason that that field up my independence.

During my senior secondary school , l realised that you are belittled if you do not have anything. You can not be the only one within the circle of your classmates who do not spend anything on lunch. At this age, you no longer need to disturb your parents for pocket money seeing the way the country is.

I was forced literally by myself to care personal things and even feeding. Luckily for me, I learnt a trade —Phone repairs. Being a type of person who does not say much, I had to in order to make something out of it. I started working right from my secondary school days.

During my WAEC and NECO exams, we all know what it is involved in being a candidate. Even if you knew it, you will still be tasked. With the little one I received, the rest many days I had to sort myself out. That is living the life. Life outside home. As students, we worked anywhere and sold some things to raise money anyhow.

After school l started looking for a place to stay and do my work. To have a nice place is not an easy task. You have to present your your as being responsible even if you will be looked down on because of age. I made friends with people around although there are still people who will always want to eat from you that little one you have made.

This is what happened at the first place. My stuff (working tools) was used, stolen and spoilt. When you ask, everyone will look less concern and when you get the work, you will be viewed like you came there to steal their customers. Of course, there is no perfect place. My tools are spoilt and stolen and staying will result in issue, so I left.

I found a couple in my street who sales accessories and I applied to stay in person.

It was not a booming business here. I did my flex and started even when there was no light. We agreed to certain amount for fuel.

It wasn't big though. The first few months was okay, very well. I saw my money and all that but it wasn't easy. Later it turned to a no money no fuel. I ran up and down to deliver my customers yet, the fire didn't keep burning.

A lot occurred, my health everything changed so I had to step out. I got myself a phone and returned low-key. My work spoke for me so I get work even at home. Life still continues! Always remained grateful to my Mother. Mrs Blessing

Having a mom has really helped me. A woman who truly understands the value of Life. No matter how the life is. We still find time and money to at least enjoy ourselves. Normally, “na person wey work go chop ”
