A Lady and Her Gentleman ~ The Review

    Hi movie lovers,
I’m here again with another interesting movie review. I promise you, you would really need to see this movie and I’m not exaggerating.
You know how I’ve always been saying I enjoy watching movies repeatedly. Well this time around, I got to see a clip of this movie on Facebook when I was doing my favorite activity (scrolling through reels).
I then felt like watching a new movie for a change, you know?
I saw some clips on Facebook and after watching for a while, I decided to hop into YouTube - the new hub for Nigerian movies.
Honestly speaking, what intrigued me more and pushed me into watching this movie was that the Producer is one of my Favourite Actors. I so much love her and how she portrays the character given to her. She makes sure to interpret the script to perfection. I’m talking about Uche Montana and yeah she’s so beautiful.

A Lady and Her Gentleman as the title says is a Nigerian movie that sheds light on a teenage girl who is called Esther. She is forcefully taken out for Prostitution just to pay her father’s debt.
Admits her mother abandoning them and the father acting like he doesn’t know how to take care of his family, she endured the humiliation and suffering just so that she could work out the money and settle the debt.

On the other side of the story, there is Sean, a young guy in his early twenties, obviously younger than Esther who hasn’t had anything sexually to do with any lady, falling for this “prostitute”. He pays to have her come to his place just to get to know her and also spend time with her without taking advantage of her.
At some point, the father of Esther who is paying her father’s debt through prostitution, dies from a heart attack and she finds solace and consolation around Sean who had paid for her to come stay with him for a week just so she could recover from her loss. But due to the fact that her oppressors were losing money since she was the most wanted among the other girls, she was threatened with the life of her only surviving brother and she had to go back.
The story follows Sean, doing everything possible to expose the dangerous dealings of Esther’s oppressors and get her set free.

A Lady and Her Gentleman was released in 2025 and was Produced by Uche Montana. Honestly, I wouldn’t say this movie is so sophisticated since the plot twists were not much. But personally, this is the first movie I’ve seen Uche Produce and honestly, I have to give her her flowers. She did so well. This movie could receive a nice rating if it was aired in cinemas.
One character that I absolutely loved was Lisa(Nancy Desmond). Her portrayal of her character was amazing. I literally had to go look for other movies she had starred in.

Honestly, the cast was amazing. I watched this movie for the second time and I didn’t skip any part. They all understood the assignment and that’s it for me. I can’t even point out any mistakes. The only thing I’ll have to point out is that Nigerian movies should actually display other reactions to the death of a loved one. Not everyone cries out their soul.
Most times the silence and strong gestures, speak more volumes than wailings( just my opinion though).
I’ll go ahead and give this an 8/10 and that’s cause I don’t wanna exaggerate it for others.

    Thanks for reading 💕
