Something that we have to be very mindful of in the Northern Hemisphere during winter is daylight sunshine and vitamin D.
So although many posts for Winter is coming 🥶🥶🥶 - and with it the Worldmappin Winter Challenge 🥳🥳 are based around Christmas markets and cold weather, this entry will focus on early December sunshine and fresh air at a local Scottish beach!
The beach in question is Leven beach which is about 9 miles up the coast from me.
I happened to be in Leven doing some work for the first time in years and finished early.
The sun was shining and so I thought fluff it, get yer arse down to the beach!
I wasn't being a lazy arse but it looked like someone was...
Did you see him?
He almost blended in with his colour of clothes!
I am fascinated by wind turbines. Quite ironic really as my background in the Oil and Gas industry.
But we have to grasp better ways to do things .. right?
As you can see the tide was out, which was great as it meant I could join the dog walkers and their dogs along the wonderful flat beach.
The wind whipped up a wee bit, not that the dogs minded!
In the distance you can see an old drilling rig that would be used to explore and drill new oil and gas wells.
I told you it been a while since I had been in Leven and it was many years since I had been on their beach.
And I sure as heck forgot about their wee burn.
I had only brought normal shoes which were not waterproof and I sure was not going to do what this guy did!
While he was jumping / hopping through the water his dog brought me his ball so I could throw it for him!
I mean look at the scenery, how could I refuse!
I did throw a few times and this time throw it over the little river!
This German Shepherd managed to get his owner wading through the water.
Dogs just love water!
Being along the coast, we have quite a few holiday parks with caravans or mobile homes. This is one such park.
Pretty awesome views, don't you think?
But it was time for me to go back, there was no way I was crossing that river. And so that meant more pups wanting to play ball.
Just look at the view and the sun! It might be early December but this was me getting some fresh air as my mother would say.
I think many things that we deemed old wives tales had some truth in them without people knowing why.
So in the winter when we are lacking in vitamin D, even if it is cold we would be told to go out and get some fresh air. That fresh air would really be the vitamin D!
You can tell how cold it was when pups are wearing coats. These two greyhounds were wearing matching coats!
Here we were back at the end of the beach and I used to fish off those rocks when I was a kid. I tell you that those wind turbines were not there when I was kid lol!
This area is called Levenmouth because surprise surprise we are at the mouth of the river Leven.
But that was my cue to get off the beach and get myself home. Just as well because the clouds were started to turn grey and yes on the way home it did actually rain.
I meanwhile I had my share of fresh air for the day, and even played with a couple of dogs. So yeas it was a cracking day!
I hope you managed to get out for a few walks this week!
This is also a post to participate in the #wednesdaywalk initiative from the wonderful @tattoodjay
