Every now and then, it is time to get the instrumenta on the table and perform some maintenance to keep them in shape. Fortunately, since I know how to do this, it isn't too difficult.
Take for example this one. I just use it for recording, but the strings had not been changed since I made the instrument back in 2022.it was time for a change. Also, since there is no finish on the fretboard and bridge, it was a good time to get some teak oil to hydrate this wood parts before they get too dry and start cracking.
This last part of playing it cautious. Humidity around the coast isn't a problem. It isn't like the whole percentage will go down dramatically and wood all over the region will start cracking by release its own water. However, the oil also adds an extra layer of protection to the own humidity of my fingers and hands while playing. The oil also serves as a way to protect the finish on the instrument where we have it.
The best part is having it look as if it were a new one coming out of the workbench. The sounds gets on the stage where tuning goes down from time to time, but that only keeps going until strings get stretched to the appropriate tension. Then, we have back the crisps sound of new strings for a while.
