    Hallo everyone!

Today I'm going to share you the pictures of the heart of Sigli. Sigli is name of the place I live right now. Since 25 December 2024 I was living here after resigned from my previous job at local Non-Government Organization in Banda Aceh, the capital city of Aceh Province. The city of Sigli holds a lot of history in the past. Especially the relationship between Aceh and Bugis, it is inseparable from discussing the trade route in the archipelago towards the beginning of the 15th century. Since the ancient era, shipping and trade from the West country and China required a port as a stopover area for a location to bring capital and store goods. For that, several ports in Sigli were used as stopovers, one of which was Kuala Pidie (Aka. Sigli) Port.

This district is located 112 km east of Banda Aceh city, 231 km west of Medan city and 561 km south of Kuala Lumpur city. The district of Sigli City with a relatively small area and relatively high population density is located in a strategic area passed by the busy Trans-Sumatra highway connecting Banda Aceh city and Medan city. In addition, Sigli City also borders directly on the Malacca Strait which is the world's main sea trade route connecting East Asia, especially China, Japan with the European Union, South Asia and West Asia. Sigli City used to be the headquarters of the largest railway workshop in Aceh when the railway was still active in Aceh.
