How are you doing? School days are the best part of our lives. Those are the days where we get to know about everything around us, the curiosity and adventurous in school days are just memorable. I still have many great memories of those wonderful days. School life plays a vital role in our personality development. The friendships we make in our school life are very precious and sometimes also last forever. Being born in 90s, i have a great transition in how schooling and education system has changed in past last 2 decades.
During our days we used to have blackboards, where teachers used to write with chalks, and clean with cloth duster. The classrooms used to be fun, interactive and educational as well. That time the bond between teachers and students was soo immense, full of respect and honour. The teachers back then used to work so hard , explaining things in traditional ways, going the extra mile for simplifying things. We used to have outdoor classes especially in winters. I had also been a witness of extreme forms of punishment given by teachers in school in case of indiscipline or any Ill act. Back then teachers used to punish children with a long stick. It's was alone intimidating and horrifying. Sometimes it's was essential and required as well. But things have changed now, as beating and punishment has become against the rules now days. Teachers have to just rely on verbal scolding only. This is a relief for students and at the same time and excuse for the mischievous students as well.
Also, back then being studious and only focused on studies was considered as supreme. Nowadays schools also focus on creativity, sports, arts, drama, social activities as aslo essential form of learning. I wish we could have have been given the same freedom and choices.The modern technology has changed how we learn and teach nowadays. It has somewhere loosened the bond between teachers and students. As information is just a click away, so students and teachers also pursue technology for this advantage. However this doesn't make the role do teachers less. Teachers apart from teaching also play the role of guardian, friend, guide and in many other ways as well. We are moving out of classroom nowadays and inculcating advance means of education. But in my opinion the old way of schooling, the simplicity and get-together of teacher student relationships is the best.
Modern education has provided greater choices and opportunities to students of today. Back then students have limited choices to choose their career. The education policies, acadmic syllabus was a bit outdated and unconventional as well. I still remember lifting a heavy bag starting from lower classes only. It's good to see how we are moving from syllabus orientated learning to more practical and skill based learning. Now we don't have to pass a common course. We can choose courses as per our interests and needs. Lately we have seen birth of many new age professions and interests. Now the focus is shifting on being more practical aspects. Now school and college are not just the source of getting degree only, they provide skills and technicalities for pursuing new goals and dreams. With changing times, we need to experiment with our education system. There is constant need of innovation especially in early education. Students should be aided to pursue their interests and should opt for career as per their choice of interest and abilities. Moreover, it will be great if we have old charm and new age technology working together to bring the best of education.
