From the Sublime to the Human, I think the concert we will have in a while could not have a better name. In this little time I have to drink my coffee and write today's post I realize the road that has been traveled to make this possible. We started to read the most sublime part of this repertoire the last days of July, like this beautiful Locus Iste that you can listen to playing the video I told you above, and with which we will open the event; until we reach the most human part where we will sing several tangos.
I don't think we have had a conductor of international stature visit us since our Wagner gala in June, and boy, does the chorale respond well to our guest conductors, they all bring a different energy and contributions that nourish our work and our sound. Today we have the joy of being conducted by a Spanish speaker, as the Maestro comes from Argentina and the best thing is that he brought with him the best of his repertoire. Tangos are not easy to read, especially several that have been written exclusively for musical instruments and that some musician turned it into a vocal arrangement for four voices or more. There is a difference between how Venezuelan musicians play with the onomatopoeia of imitating the sound of instruments and how Argentinians do it, and added to how fast and variant a tango can be then attention has to be extreme in order not to fail.
The other thing that makes me really happy and that made me look forward to this day is the visit of my family. When I lived in my city it was normal for them to go to my concerts of the municipal choir and in fact I also went to the concerts where my dad, my mom, my brother or any of my family performed, but since I moved to the capital everything has been complicated and the times I have shared the music of the national choir with them has been few, so today I will dress up more than ever, as the excitement is at a thousand percent.
Yes I have noticed that we are a little tired, but the good thing is that it does not show in our voices 😅 at the same time of the sacred/popular concert that we will have in a few hours we are also recording our Christmas music album and our agenda is at least until the first week of December. That's why I think that phrase represents us very well “From the Sublime to the Human”. Without specifying the political problems that do not cease to occur daily in my country, the rains and the economy, music is still that important engine that moves us, it is our escape to all of the above and more, and it is pleasing for me to realize that it is not affected by the problems, in fact it improves the sound. We are not machines anyway, rest is important, but gratitude is infinite. Arriving at the rehearsal room and starting to harmonize can be like being in heaven if I concentrate well, so I go in with my best expectations for today's concert...
