Hello Hivers! It’s me again, @itsmemic.
A Christmas Story to Remember
This story happened on the 25th of December, a day filled with excitement and joy.
My sister, who played one of the role of “Santa,” became my go-to person that morning when I asked her what time the church mass would start. I trusted her because I knew she’d be aware of the schedule. She replied confidently, “8 PM.”
With that in mind, I started getting ready as early as 5 PM. Yes, you read that right—5 PM! I wanted to ensure I had enough time to pick out an outfit, do some self-care, and, of course, apply my makeup. By 7 PM, I was all set. My mom reminded me to have dinner before heading to church so I’d be ready to go.
Since @iamlovelykate , my sister, was already at the church practicing their dance performance, my companion for the evening was my younger brother.
@iamlovelykate and the other “Santas” were preparing for a special presentation where each of them would wear a sash displaying a birth month. The audience would place money in the boxes corresponding to their birth month—a thoughtful and festive tradition.
A Packed Church and a Perfect Spot
On our way to church, my brother mentioned how crowded it already was. To avoid standing the whole time, I decided to bring a chair.
When we arrived, I wasn’t surprised to see the place packed. I chose to sit by the side where I could clearly see the altar. It turned out to be a great spot because I could also see the TV screen displaying the song lyrics. This made it easy for me to sing along, which I absolutely love doing, especially when it feels like I’m harmonizing with the choir.
A Heartwarming Presentation
A few minutes later, my sister and the other “Santas” lined up for their performance. I called her name, and she smiled back at me—a sweet moment.
After their first presentation, they handed out greeting cards with the words, “MERRY CHRISTMAS, from SANTA.” On the back, there was a heartfelt message: “Love is the true gift of Christmas.”
Fun and Surprises During the Mass
Before the mass ended, the priest announced a fun activity. A member of the congregation asked questions, and those who answered correctly received Christmas gifts. Questions included:
- “When is Jesus’ birthday?”
- “Who is Jesus’ father?”
- “Who is His mother?” and many more.
The prizes were practical yet thoughtful—laundry basins and buckets in various colors. Many people participated, and several won gifts, making the activity lively and enjoyable.
Capturing Memories
After the mass, I took some photos inside the church.
I even had a picture of me by the window.
Later, I asked my brother’s friend to capture a photo with my siblings, and the result was stunning. The background and angle were just perfect.
Nearby was the nativity scene, beautifully arranged with traditional figures like Mama Mary, Joseph, Baby Jesus in a manger, shepherds, and animals such as cows and sheep. The display was set on green cloth resembling grass and housed in a simple wooden structure near the altar.
The church’s exterior was equally breathtaking, featuring arched windows and doors that added a classic and elegant charm. The ceiling and walls were adorned with decorative moldings, and the large flat-screen TV I mentioned earlier was prominently displayed.
A Serendipitous Moment
As we were about to leave, I heard someone calling my name from above. When I looked up, I saw my guy friends. One of them had been searching for me and kept asking his friends where I was. It was perfect timing that they spotted me.
I went upstairs to where the choir usually sat. The area had microphones and speakers, making it feel special. We took a group photo, and I also had a solo picture taken. Everything looked perfect—a moment I’ll treasure forever.
And that's it for todays blog.
Thank you, my dear Hivers, for reading!
