Hive ($HIVE) is a blokchain & a cryptocurrency that emerged in 2020 as a fork from the Steem blockchain. The goal was to enhance decentralization and community governance. Hive has demonstrated longevity and growth in the past years after its birth. Hive Blockchain has its own ecosystem, where $hive exists mainly in a staked form (Hive Power), to empower users and to motivate them to actively participate.
Historically, Hive's presence on major exchanges has not been very expansive, however since December 2024, $hive has been added to many major exchanges in spot or in futures.
Is this a shift towards broader recognition?
What does this signify for hive ecosystem?
In December 2024, Binance, one of the world's leading cryptocurrency exchanges, introduced HIVE/USDT perpetual futures contracts, offering traders up to 75x leverage.
This led to an immediate 11% surge in HIVE's price, reaching $0.41. Till then it has seen some price increases, and it may have increased investor interest.
Binance was already one of the exchanges that has $hive in spot, and recently there had been some promotions in EARN
Following the new listings in Futures, other exchanges have incorporated HIVE into their futures trading platforms.
KuCoin Futures launched a USDT-margined HIVE contract with up to 50x leverage, providing traders with additional opportunities to engage with the cryptocurrency. here
Also, Bitget expanded its futures offerings by introducing HIVE/USDT perpetual futures, featuring 20x leverage and bot integration, further enhancing trading flexibility. Bitget
Another exchange that I was checking out (Bitunix) added Hive so it was a reason for me to create an account there too.
This inclusion of HIVE in futures markets across multiple exchanges is a very important moment. Futures allow investors-traders to speculate on an asset's future price without owning it directly. This could potentially increase liquidity, more traders can be attracted and hive could gain broader recognition worldwide.
We should keep in mind that this could also signify increased volatility. Even though the last few weeks movement seems to be sideways, moving in strict support-resistance levels, it will be important to see how much it caught the eye of investors and what kind of trading will take place.
I would like to ask the opinion mostly of traders about this.
Is this a good thing for hive? Will this bring more investors and users into the ecosystem; We know that inleo is already doing various things and has many new actions planned for 2025. Will all this exchange-traction about hive implement all the developments in a good way?
I would be happy to know what you think.
Appendix :)
As I am still a very young learner in trading, I have decided to test out some of the new future listings (of course with $hive) - because I know its chart better than any other charts.
So these are some of my first efforts - small but successful.
Do you trade futures? Which is your favorite platform to do so and why?
