Nostalgia hits me when I think about the 2go app, a popular platform back in the early 2000s, back then I was still in high school, we used the platform to connect with friends.
My best friend, was in boarding school, he would secretly use his phone to chat with me when no adults were around. I too pretended to be asleep while I was actually awake so my parents don't see me chatting away, we chatted about the general topic and what not, asking about his school life.

This became the highlight of most of my days, strengthening our friendship and helping us navigate the ups and downs of teenage life. For me, having that connection with that person made me excited, it didn't matter if I saw them or not.

While there are different opinions around the effect of technology on relationships, I firmly believe that it has been a game-changer in building and maintaining relationships.
This is not to take the fact that physical presence in a relationship is paramount and sharing social and human connection is important, however technology widens your horizon and allows you to meet with, share and even fall in love with people you never would have dreamt off or imagine ever.

Personally, technology has helped me treasure memories, provided me with proof of experiences through videos, pictures, and messages.
I also acknowledge its negative effects, but for me, the benefits outweigh the drawbacks.
As is my experience in long-distance relationships technology has shown me the power in nurturing love and connection. Helping me and my partners maintain constant contact with our emotionally tied half from the options of calls, to texts and video calls even through playful Snapchat streaks, technology has aided me find and sustain meaningful relationships. I can't imagine navigating distance without these tools, and I'm grateful for the ways they've enriched my personal connections.
While technology has its disadvantage , such as potentially diminishing the human touch in relationships or reducing face-to-face interactions, it also offers invaluable tools to nurture and sustain connections. I am not saying physical gestures like roses, handwritten love letters, leisurely walks, going to the movies aren't great. but I think technology provides a means to maintain relationships over distance and time. By embracing both the virtual and face to face aspects of connection, we can cultivate more resilient and fulfilling relationships.
