Ayer sábado se celebró en mi parroquia el Sacramento de la Confirmación, donde un pequeño grupo de 14 jóvenes y 5 adultos, luego de una preparación de un año escolar en un proceso de catequesis, decidieron dar el si a Cristo y confirmar su fe y su seguimiento a la obra de Jesús.

Confirmation: end of a period, beginning of a new life

Warm greetings dear followers of this community of @humanitas, I am happy to be with you again to share with you another of my experiences.
Yesterday, Saturday, the Sacrament of Confirmation was celebrated in my parish, where a small group of 14 young people and 5 adults, after a school year of preparation in a process of catechesis, decided to say yes to Christ and confirm their faith and their following of the work of Jesus.

Fue un ritual sencillo pero muy emotivo, el templo estaba decorado con bellas flores y el celebrante, delegado por el obispo, luego de felicitar a los contrayentes, los animó a continuar aplicando lo aprendido en su catequesis y seguir nutriendo sus vidas con el mensaje de Cristo.

El mensaje se centró en que la confirmación no es una culminación sino un inicio, ya que por ser un sacramento de iniciación el participante esta capacitado para comenzar a vivir una vida basada en el mensaje del evangelio, donde se exaltan los valores y los dones recibidos por el Espíritu Santo y se ponen al servicio de los demás.

It was a simple but very emotional ritual, the church was decorated with beautiful flowers and the celebrant, delegated by the bishop, after congratulating the couple, encouraged them to continue applying what they had learned in their catechesis and to continue nurturing their lives with the message of Christ.
The message focused on the fact that confirmation is not a culmination but a beginning, since being a sacrament of initiation, the participant is able to begin to live a life based on the message of the Gospel, where the values and gifts received by the Holy Spirit are exalted and placed at the service of others.

Como les he comentado en otras publicaciones, soy catequista de adultos, una actividad no remunerada económicamente, pero que me llena de satisfacción por ser el guía espiritual de estas personas que quieren conocer la persona de Jesús y verlos felices por su logro es también mi más grande recompensa.

En la catequesis de adultos me he encontrado con personas jóvenes de 18 años y otras de más de 60 y la verdad es que cada quien, con su historia y experiencia de vida, hacen de la catequesis un sitio de encuentro más que una clase donde se imparten conocimientos.

As I have told you in other publications, I am an adult catechist, an activity that is not economically remunerated, but that fills me with satisfaction for being the spiritual guide of these people who want to know the person of Jesus and to see them happy for their achievement is also my greatest reward.
In the adult catechesis I have met young people of 18 years old and others of more than 60 years old and the truth is that each one, with their history and life experience, make the catechesis a meeting place more than a class where knowledge is imparted.

Me siento muy feliz y satisfecho cuando un adulto me agradece por presentarle a Jesús y ayudarle en su proceso de conocimiento y seguimiento al Señor y yo le digo que soy solo un humilde mensajero que Dios llamó un buen día para que le sirviera y, aunque considero que fue tarde, acepté su llamado con alegria.

Dios tiene un propósito para cada uno de nosotros y solo él sabe como llevarlo a cabo. Aunque pongamos excusas como lo han hecho a lo largo de la historia de salvación Moisés, que era lento para hablar o Jeremías que solo era un muchacho cuando Dios lo llamó, el Señor sabe como capacitarnoss para que seamos sus instrumentos en la tierra y cumplamos sus propósitos. Después de todo Dios no llama a los capacitados sino que capacita a los llamados.

I feel very happy and satisfied when an adult thanks me for introducing him to Jesus and helping him in his process of knowing and following the Lord and I tell him that I am just a humble messenger that God called one fine day to serve him and, although I consider that it was late, I accepted his call with joy.
God has a purpose for each one of us and only he knows how to carry it out. Even if we make excuses as Moses, who was slow to speak, or Jeremiah who was only a boy when God called him, have done throughout salvation history, the Lord knows how to enable us to be his instruments on earth and fulfill his purposes. After all, God does not call the enabled but enables the called.

Confirmar es reafirmar y dejar por sentado que ya somos propiedad de Cristo y que a partir de este momento nuestra vida dará un vuelco favorable, para dejar atrás una vida sin sabor y comenzar a sentir ese agradable sabor que sólo el seguimiento a Jesús puede conseguir en nosotros.

Confirmar nuestra fe es confirmar que amamos a Jesús, que nos mueve su vida, su mensaje y que deseamos ser participes en su misión y que queremos sentarnos a la mesa junto a él en el banquete que nos tiene preparados.

To confirm is to reaffirm and take for granted that we are already Christ's property and that from this moment on our life will take a favorable turn, to leave behind a life without taste and to begin to feel that pleasant flavor that only the following of Jesus can achieve in us.
To confirm our faith is to confirm that we love Jesus, that we are moved by his life, his message and that we want to participate in his mission and that we want to sit at the table with him at the banquet he has prepared for us.
