Let me share my delightful adventure of discovering Dunekeun Tripel, a beer that seemed to leap off the shelf and into my heart. As a beer enthusiast, the thrill of unearthing a unique brew is unparalleled, and this experience was no exception.
The Beer: Dunekeun Tripel
The name Dunekeun translates to "dune rabbit" in West Flemish dialect, paying homage to the spirited rabbits inhabiting Belgium's coastal dunes.
This whimsical moniker perfectly encapsulates the beer's character—playful yet robust. Crafted by De Kustbrouwerij in collaboration with Brewery Deca, this Tripel is aged for six weeks with applewood, imparting subtle apple notes that lead to a fruity onset and a pleasantly bitter, dry finish. With an ABV of 8.5%, it embodies the boldness expected of a classic Tripel.
The Beer Haven: Drink Peiffer
The setting of this discovery was none other than Drink Peiffer in Membach, near Eupen—a veritable paradise for beer lovers. Boasting a selection of over 1,400 Belgian beers, Drink Peiffer offers an unparalleled variety that caters to every palate.

As I wandered through the aisles, each shelf presented a new temptation. The sheer volume and diversity of options were both exhilarating and slightly overwhelming. Amidst this vast array, the Dunekeun Tripel stood out, its label adorned with a charming depiction of a dune rabbit, a nod to its namesake.
The unique aging process with applewood piqued my curiosity, making it an irresistible choice.
The Tasting Experience
Bringing the bottle home, I anticipated the tasting experience. Sadly had to wait a moment to cool it down a bit. The initial sip greeted me with delicate apple notes, seamlessly transitioning into the complex, slightly bitter finish characteristic of a well-crafted Tripel. It was a harmonious blend of tradition and innovation, much like the whimsical dune rabbit that inspired its name.

For me as a beer lover this discovering of Dunekeun Tripel at Drink Peiffer was more than a mere purchase; it was another great exploration into the rich tapestry of Belgian brewing.
