Hello everyone. β€οΈ
My First Long Holiday Travel Experience π
This trip was a self-drive adventure with my group of friends. We chose to visit a small town we had never explored before: Mae Sot District, located about 160 kilometers from Tak City. This charming town lies near the border with our neighboring country, Myanmar π.
Our trip took place this past Tuesday, and one must-visit check-in spot in Mae Sot is Wat Thai Wattanaram π. This temple stands out with its stunning architecture and peaceful atmosphere. Many people come here to pray for blessings and good fortune. Of course, I couldn't miss experiencing the beauty and sacredness of this temple myself π«
Upon arriving at Wat Thai Wattanaram π, you will find a spacious parking area available for both Thai visitors and tourists who come to explore this temple πβ¨. There is an important rule to follow here: wearing shorts is not allowed within the temple grounds. This guideline is in place to show respect for the sacredness of the site π.
Wat Thai Wattanaram π is a temple renowned for its striking beauty. The surrounding buildings are adorned in gleaming gold, influenced by Burmese-style artistry β¨. This golden structure, known as the "Golden Viharn", features intricate and exquisite carvings, making it a key highlight that attracts many visitors.
When I visited Wat Thai Wattanaram on a Wednesday, the temple was relatively quiet, allowing me to enjoy its peaceful and serene atmosphere πΏ. Upon entering the temple grounds, the first thing that caught my eye was the golden twin swan statues π¦’β¨. Just beyond these statues stands the revered "Nats" (or "The Deity Who Grants Wishes"), a popular spot where many Thai people come to pray and seek blessings for good fortune π.
In front of the Wish-Granting Deity (Nat), there is a signboard with instructions in Thai for making an offering before making your wish β¨. The process begins by standing straight and placing your forehead against the deity's outstretched index finger, while silently making a wish for what you desire π.
This ritual reflects a unique aspect of Thai beliefs, and the temple is renowned for its sacredness in granting wishes. As a result, many people come here seeking blessings and good fortune π«
In fact, Wat Thai Wattanaram offers several opportunities to make merit, such as the birthday merit-making spot or offering alms to the monks, which are activities that help bring blessings and good fortune into our lives π.
Before continuing on to other tourist spots, we took a moment to relax and admire the beauty of this temple. It truly became one of the most memorable and meaningful highlights of our trip π«.
