Introduction
Nalara Geinek is a good tank overall. However, her mana cost might make her challenging to fit into every lineup. Despite this, Nalara Geinek’s abilities and stats shine in specific Rules of Combat and lineups.
In this article, we’ll explore her stats, abilities, pros, cons and how she synergizes with other monsters. I'll also show how to maximize her potential in various Rules of Combat including those rules of combat that should be avoided.
Nalara Geinek’s stats focus on defense and utility. Her Silence ability reduces magic damage from all opponent monsters by 1 making her a strong counter to magic teams. Her Void ability halves incoming magic damage further enhancing her survivability against teams focusing on magic damage.
Nalara Geinek's best abilities would be Void and Silence. These two abilities always go in tandem and having both on one monster makes her a good monster to tank against that damage type.
Amplify: [Damage Modifier] Increase the damage of ay Thorns, Magic Reflect and Return Fire abilities.
Silence: [Stat Modifier] As long as this monster is alive, all opponent monsters has their magic damage reduced by 1, with a minimum of 1. Monsters with 1 magic damage before the effect applies are unaffected.
Void: [Defense] Monsters with Void ability reduces the incoming magic damage by half. If the damage is 1, before the effect applies, the damage is negated and becomes 0.
Pros
- Combines Void and Silence ability in one unit. Silence reduces magic damage by 1 and Void halves any remaining damage. If the final damage is 1, it becomes 0 making Nalara Geinek a great tank against magic damage monsters.
- Combines Magic damage and Stun ability. Magic damage does not miss. Therefore, every attack, he has 50% chance of applying stun. This is a higher chance than if the damage type is melee or range since both of those attacks can miss which lowers the overall chance percentage you can apply Stun ability on your opponents.
- High Health and Armor. Nalara Geinek's stats are perfect for a defensive tank monster. This allows her to absorb damage and sustain longer in battles. The high armor can also be beneficial in certain rules of combat such as Weak Magic rule of combat.
Cons
- Low DamageNalara Geinek only has 1 magic damage which limits your team's overall damage. Players need to rely on other monsters to increase overall team damage or else you will lose even if you have a great tank.
- High Mana CostAt 9 mana cost, Nalara Geinek is 1 to 2 mana higher than other good tanks like Djinn Oshannus. This can make her difficult to include in low mana battles or even with other Splinters that have a more reliable Void tank.
- One of the Weakest Among Legendary Monsters.Usually, legendary monsters are capable of solo carrying the game such as Runemancer Kye. If not, they are capable of supporting another that can solo carry games like Queen Mycelia. Nalara Geinek is a good tank agains magic damage team but he isn't capable of achieving anything close to what the other two legendaries can do.
Wands Out |
During this battle, only monsters with magic damage type are allowed: Nalara Geinek’s Void and Silence abilities make her one of the top picks in this rule of combat. Nalara Geinek can significantly reduce the power of other magic damage team especially when they are forced to use magic damage monsters in this rule of combat.
Heavy Hitters |
All monsters do double damage to opponent's monster that has Stunned status: Nalara Geinek's Stun ability synergizes well with this Rules of Combat doubling damage dealt to stunned opponents. This makes her a strong support for high damage teammates.
Briar Patch |
All monsters on the board gains the Thorns ability that inflicts 2 melee damage to monster with melee damage attacking this monster: Amplify enhances the Thorns ability given to all monsters. Since she doesn’t have melee damage, she won’t trigger Thorns herself making her a safe pick as a tank in this rule of combat. |
Noxious Fumes |
All monsters on the board are given the poisoned status at the start of the battle. Poisoned monsters take 2 damage at the start of every round.: Void does not reduce damage from Poison making her less effective. While the high max health can help, Nalara Geinek may still struggle to sustain in battles where Poison is a major factor. |
|
Target Practice |
All monsters on the board gains the Snipe ability that changes the targetting mechanics of monsters with Range and Magic damage to "Non-melee opponent's monsters that is not on first position.": If you use Nalara Geinek as the main tank, range and magic damage monsters will bypass him due to Snipe ability. You can place him on the 2nd position but same thing will happen if the main tank on the 1st position falls. |
|
Tis But Scratches |
All monsters on the board gains the Cripple ability that reduces the opponent's max health by 1 when their attacks hit: Nalara Geinek’s Void and Silence abilities make her one of the top picks in this rule of combat. Nalara Geinek can significantly reduce the power of other magic damage team especially when they are forced to use magic damage monsters in this rule of combat. |
Angelic Mandarin |
The Silence ability from Angelic Mandarin stacks with Nalara Geinek’s Silence reducing magic damage even further. This makes them a strong defensive duo against magic heavy teams. Make sure to keep this option open when Earth Splinter is up. If your opponent loves using Earth Splinters, having these two monsters on your board can be a way for an easy win.
Wave Brood |
Wave Brood’s Taunt-Void combo works well with Nalara Geinek’s Silence ability. Additionally, Wave Brood’s Return Fire ability benefits from Nalara’s Amplify, increasing reflected damage. You can further amplify the potential of this combo by adding in Angelic Mandarin for its Triage and Silence abilities.
Coastal Sentry |
Nalara Geinek’s Stun is really good when combined with Coastal Sentry’s Knock Out ability. With Double Strike ability, Coastal Sentry can deal up to 20 melee damage per round when the combo works. |
This team is a solid choice in my opinion. I paid too much attention to the Weak Magic Rule of Combat which made it dangerous since the opponent has high melee damage. The team's overall damage is fairly high focusing on magic damage but if my opponent decide to use Void and Tank Heal combo, I might've lost this game.
Lineup
Octavia Shadowmeld
Provides Conscript allowing Witch of Warwick to join the battle. This boosts the team’s damage and utility. It also opens more options for you since you can use Gladiator monsters along with Neutral monsters and Death Splinters.
Halfling Refugee
A low 1 mana cost filler that helps the team with its insane 6 health. I normally use Halfling Refugee than other 1 mana cost monsters because of his 6 health.
Nalara Geinek
The main tank with high armor and compatibility with Weak Magic Rules of Combat. She protects the team from magic heavy opponents. Sadly it didn't work as much as I wanted due to the opponent not focusing their team with magic damage. Nalara Geinek still worked really good as a reliable tank.
Ravenhood Warden
Protect ability boosts the team’s armor enhancing the team's overall defense. This is especially useful in Weak Magic Rules of Combat where armor can be used to block opponent's magic damage.
Witch of Warwick
A Gladiator monster with Life Leech and Bloodlust that thrives in longer battles. Her magic damage adds consistent damage to the team. Can be a good backup carry once the Bloodlust picks up a few kills.
Magi of Chaos
A high magic damage neutral monster that complements the team’s offensive lineup. This is my way of compensating for using Nalara Geinek and keep the overall damage up.
Surprisingly a very easy battle. The main problem the opponent's lineup have is having a monster with Armored Strike on a Weak Magic rule of combat. This means the armor will be blocking the attacks basically rendering Armored Strike useless since that monster has 0 armor for that ability almost all the time. Once their main tank and main damage dies, it's a free game for me.
Nalara Geinek shines as a defensive tank in magic heavy battles. Her Silence and Void abilities allow her to mitigate magic damage effectively, making her a reliable choice in specific Rules of Combat like Wands Out. The high armor also helps in order for her to not be blasted away with high range and melee damage that Void and Silence abilities cannot affect.
When paired with complementing monsters like Angelic Mandarin or Wave Brood, Nalara Geinek’s potential can increases significantly. Even if you use her as a standalone tank, the good defensive stats can be a reliable factor for your team not to bite the dust early.
However, her high mana cost and low offensive capabilities limit her flexibility. Always try to partner this monster with high damage monsters in order to compensate for the lack of overall damage. With careful planning, Nalara Geinek can be a key part of a strong flexible lineup especially with her being a Neutral monster.
