As we enter the new year, many things happened, both good and bad, both in game and out in the real life. This year is, without a doubt, a roller coaster for me. However, all of those experiences only got me stronger and smarter about everything. I am really happy to how this game is shaping up and believes it would be way better in the future.
Looking back at my Splinterlands journey, battles like those with Prunda Undervesch and Bera Dallin is the one that most stand out. Prunda Undervesch's flexibility as a dual summoner made for an exciting combination with Bera Dallin where she dominated everone. These experiences remind me how fun it is when theory and reality collides.
Like Prunda Undervesch and Bera Dallin, my strategies often revolve around strong combinations like Wave Brood and Prophet Rosa. Wave Brood's durability and Void paired with Rosa's Shield ability creates a defense that is hard to crack. Battles like these show how the right cards can lead to consistent victories.
As for the future, my focus is currently on saving for the next pack release after Rebellion. I believe adapting to new cards and strategies is the key to staying competitive. This approach keeps the game exciting and ensures I'm always ready for what's next in the Splinterverse.
Most Memorable Battle: Prunda Undervesch and Bera Dallin
One of my most memorable battles last year featured Prunda Undervesch as the summoner and Bera Dallin as the main focus of the team. Her flexibility being able to use both water and life Splinters are very strong even without abilities. Both Water and Life Splinters have strong supports for Taunt monsters making the battle style similar to The Kraken and water supports when I played it in the old days.
Bera Dallin, a powerful life Taunt monster from the Rebellion Series. I wasn't able to use her before because her max-level rental cost was too high. Now that prices have dropped, I can happily use her in Modern Ranked Format especially when I am climbing. For more about Bera Dallin, check out my article: Monster's Week: Bera Dallin.
There are a lot more battles that are memorable this year but this one is one of the best.
Strategies and Card Combinations: Wave Brood and Prophet Rosa
Wave Brood's high health and Taunt ability make it a great tank, drawing attacks away from other monsters. Prophet Rosa makes this strategy even better by granting Wave Brood the Shield ability. With Void and Shield, Wave Brood can reduce all damage types, whether it's melee, ranged, or magic, by half making it an essential part of my lineup. I really like focusing on Taunt monsters as it removes a lot of complicated strategies from my opponents forcing them to play how I wanted them to play and Wave Brood with Prophet Rosa can make this really easy.
This combination can also be more improved by adding Angelic Mandarin into the mix. Angelic Mandarin both have Triage to restore damage that Wave Brood received and Silence to reduce any magic damage it receives. Both Angelic Mandarin and Wave Brood have range damage which allows the the use of Prophet Rosa's other ability, which is increased range damage by 2.

Goals for the New Year: Saving for the New Pack
Like I said, my goal this year is to save and wait for the release of the new pack after Rebellion. Once it is available, I plan to adapt my strategies because most of my current Modern Ranked Format strategies rely on Chaos Legion cards and Chaos Legion will be pushed out when the new set released. A new set will bring fresh possibilities and challenges, including problems and meta changes, so I want to be prepared.
This approach means holding off on expanding my card collection for now. Instead, I am focusing on saving resources and observing how the meta evolves. This will give me an advantage when the new cards come into play.
Achieving Goals: Articles and Keeping Up with Changes
I plan to achieve my goals by writing more articles and improving their quality as much as I can. Staying informed about new abilities and changes in Splinterlands is also important. For example, occasionally visiting Splinterlands support sites can get you updated with the list of abilities that aren't on cards yet but are in development and will be released soon. Theory crafting with these new abilities in mind can make you ahead in the game even with the changes once they become online.
On the gameplay side, I am experimenting with new Rebellion cards like Nalara Geinek, which I recently covered in an article. These cards will become crucial when Chaos Legion is no longer available in Modern Ranked Format. Keeping up with these changes ensures I stay ahead of the curve. I plan to do more of these articles in the future with one condition: They should be cards worth checking.
Splinterlands continues to challenge and excite me with every new battle and strategy that I can think of. Memorable moments and battles like using Prunda Undervesch and Bera Dallin or Wave Brood and Prophet Rosa reminds me why I love this game. I like how I can freely explore and combine the strength of cards to make a stronger one. It's just like cooking. Fried pork tastes good. Soy Sauce and Vinegar alone can be good seasonings but mix the three together in a pot and you have Adobo, a new dish that is more delicious than trying each of the ingredients on their own.
Looking ahead, saving for the next pack release and keeping up with changes will help me adapt to the evolving meta. I also want to participate in buying the packs as they release although I am not sure if I can do as much because the packs are just too expensive upon release. To compare, a pack of Yugioh cards, a physical one, costs $3 and a pack in Splinterlands, a digital one that you cannot even touch costs $4-5. I don't get the reasoning behind it so it appeals to me less. I hope they can at least lower the card to $3 in comparable to other packs like Yugioh or Pokemon.
Whether it's writing articles or trying new strategies, Splinterlands offers endless opportunities to grow. With every battle, there's a chance to learn and improve. I look forward to seeing how the game evolves and what new challenges lie ahead. I also hope Splinterlands team will think about something I am always trying to recommend which is to make an animation to attract younger audiences. This would certainly help the game in the future and keep the community alive.
