Today, I met one of my friends from university for the first time in about six years. After having a meal near Tokyo Station, we decided to visit Koami Shrine in Nihonbashi.
We took the Tozai Line from Otemachi Station and got off at Kayabacho Station. From there, we relied on Google Maps to find our way to the shrine. After walking for a while, we noticed a long line stretching across the street. Wondering what it was for, we approached it and discovered that it was actually the queue to visit Koami Shrine.
More precisely, the line was divided into three sections: "worship," "money washing," and "offering counter," meaning that we had to queue separately for each activity. Although it was a cold and chilly day, we decided to join the worship line first, as we had come all this way. Koami Shrine is well known as a place for warding off misfortune and bringing financial luck.
After finishing our worship, we joined the "money washing" line. While washing my 500 yen coin, I looked around and saw people washing all the coins from their wallets. I was even more surprised to see some people washing paper bills.
Apparently, the washed 500 yen coin is meant to be kept as a "seed coin" (a good luck charm) for the year. I hope it brings me good fortune! It seems that both stocks and Bitcoin are down today 😅, but I hope to benefit from the blessings of Koami Shrine and see my luck improve!
