Onde-onde is one of the popular classic traditional snacks. Onde-onde is made from glutinous rice flour dough that is formed into balls with sesame sprinkles on the outside of the skin. The classic onde-onde filling is mashed green beans. But did you know, currently there are many variations for onde-onde fillings, namely cheese, chocolate, grated coconut and so on, you can choose according to what you want for the filling.

Onde-onde is a type of market snack cake that has many fans, so it's no wonder it's very easy to find this snack, especially in the area where I live. The cake has a sweet taste, a chewy texture inside and crispy on the outside, making this cake very tempting to eat anytime, especially accompanied by a cup of tea in the morning. Although it is very easy to find, I want to try making it myself at home with the filling I want to make, namely green beans. So without further ado, let's prepare the ingredients and follow the detailed step-by-step instructions and the following pictures.

    Ingredients needed:

    • 250 grams of white glutinous rice flour
    • 30 grams of tapioca flour
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 50 grams of sesame for coating
    • 200 ml of water

    • 150 grams of green beans
    • 100 grams of granulated sugar
    • 1 pandan leaf
    • 1/2 tsp salt
    • 500 ml of water for boiling

    How to make:

First: make the filling first. Boil water until boiling. Add the previously washed green beans and pandan leaves. Boil for 20 minutes or until the green beans expand and the water reduces. Let it cool slightly

Third: continue by making the dough for the outer skin or onde-onde skin. Mix white glutinous rice flour, tapioca flour and salt. Stir well. Next, pour in the heated water little by little while kneading until smooth and can be shaped

Fourth: take a little dough of approximately the same size or you can weigh it to get the same size. After all have been rounded, take one by one and flatten it. Fill. Form into a ball. Roll over sesame seeds. Do this until all are used up

Fifth: fry in not too hot oil over medium heat while stirring in circles. Fry until cooked and the dough is used up. Remove and serve
