Hello friends, I hope you are well, tomorrow Monday my daughter will have a small school parade organized by her teachers, all the children will participate and the theme will be the Flora and Fauna of Venezuela, so my daughter chose to represent a beautiful Sunflower, today I got to work to make a giant sunflower, I have no experience doing this kind of work, but I kept going. Here I show a brief step by step of how I did it. Let's get started!
Hola amigos, espero que se encuentren muy bien, mañana lunes mi hija tendrá un pequeño desfile escolar organizado por sus maestras, todos los niños vana a participar y la temática será de la Flora y la Fauna de Venezuela, así que mi hija escogió representar a un hermoso Girasol, hoy puse manos a la obra para hacer un girasol gigante, tengo nula experiencia haciendo esta clase de trabajos, pero seguí adelante. Aquí muestro un breve paso a paso de como lo hice. Comencemos!

I started by making a headband with the size of my daughter's face, so first I measured it and then on a piece of cardboard paper I made a pattern. Then I cut it out to draw it on top of the foam, I used the green foam to make the headband. I cut two strips and in the middle of them I placed a white cardboard, this cardboard is to give it strength and to be able to stand without bending on the face. So I joined both pieces of foam with the cardboard in the middle, then I gave it a circular shape and finally I joined both ends until forming the circle. This circle has the diameter of my daughter's face.
Comencé realizando un cintillo con el tamaño del rostro de mi hija, así que primero lo medí y luego sobre un papel de cartulina saqué un patrón. Después lo recorté para dibujarlo encima del foami, utilicé el foami de color verde para hacer el cintillo. Corté dos tiras y en medio de ellas coloqué un cartón de color blanco, este cartón es para darle dureza y pueda mantenerse sin doblarse en el rostro. Así que uní ambas partas de foami con el cartón en medio, luego le fui dando forma circular y por último uní ambos extremos hasta formar el círculo. Este círculo tiene el diámetro del rostro de mi hija.

After completing the circle I begin to make the yellow petals of the Sunflower. For that I draw a petal pattern on top of the yellow foam, I gave it a normal design that looks very similar to a real sunflower. Then I cut until I have 8 pieces for 8 petals. Then I make a triangle-shaped cut on each petal at the square end that can later be joined. The purpose of this cut is to give firmness to the petals so that they do not move too much, and also to make it easier to stick them on the green headband.
Luego de completar el círculo comienzo a hacer los pétalos amarillos del Girasol. Para eso dibujo un patrón del pétalo encima del foami de color amarillo, le di un diseño normal, que se parezca mucho a un girasol real. Luego recorto hasta sacar 8 piezas para 8 pétalos. Después a cada pétalo por el extremo cuadrado hago un corte en forma de triángulo que después puedan unirse. El propósito de este corte es darle firmeza a los pétalos para que no se muevan mucho, y también para que sea más fácil pegarlos en el cintillo de color verde.

In the next step I begin to glue each of the 8 petals that I made on the green headband, to glue them I use silicone and a gun, since school glue is not very good for this type of material, however you have to know how to place the hot silicone because it can melt the foam.
En el siguiente paso comienzo a pegar cada uno de los 8 pétalos que hice en el cintillo verde, para pegarlos utilizo silicón y una pistola, ya que el pegamento escolar no es muy bueno para esta clase de material, sin embargo hay que saber colocar el silicón caliente porque puede derretir el foami.

I also made 8 more petals but a little thinner, I made these so that the flower would be more leafy, since I realized that with only 8 it didn't look good.
Tambien hice 8 pétalos más pero un poco más delgados, estos los hice para que la flor quedara más frondosa, ya que me di cuenta que con solo 8 no se veía bien.

Next I made the brown part of the sunflowers, the center of the flower, although here it was not made the same as a real sunflower because it would cover the face, so I made a circle with brown foam which I made cuts around in the shape of spikes and finally cut an inner circle. Next I began to glue the brown circle on the entire headband that holds the flower, here I used contact glue since there was not much of the part where it was going to be glued. Finally I tried it on my daughter and it looked perfect on her.
Seguidamente hice la parte marrón de los girasoles, el centro de la flor, aunque aquí no se hizo igual que un girasol real porque taparía el rostro, así que hice un circulo con foami de color marron el cual hice cortes alrededor en forma de espigas y por último corte un círculo interior. Seguidamente comencé a pegar el círculo marrón en todo el cintillo que sostiene la flor, aquí utilicé pegamento de contacto ya que no era mucho la parte donde se iba a pegar. Por último se lo probé a mi hija y le quedó perfecto.

Finally I made two large green leaves, I made these large to put on each of their little arms. I cut them and on the inside I attached two pieces of thread that can be used to tie the arms. Finally, I measured it for my daughter until I put everything she will use tomorrow, and that's how it was finalized.
Por último hice dos granes hojas de color verde, estas las hice de gran tamaño para ponerla en cada uno de sus brazitos. Los corté y por la parte interior fijé dos trozos de hilo que sirvan para amarrar a los brazos. Por último se lo medí a mi hija hasta ponerle todo lo que usará el día de mañana, y así quedó finalizado.
This is how my little Sunflower turned out, my daughter was very happy with her costume, she is counting the hours to participate tomorrow, I would have liked to make her an even more realistic costume with many details, but the teachers warned very late, so I only used the weekend to be able to do it. Así quedó mi pequeño Girasol, mi hija quedó muy contenta con su disfraz, está contando las horas para participar el día de mañana, hubiera querido hacerle un disfraz aún mas realista y con muchos detalles, pero las maestras avisaron muy tarde, así que solo utilicé el fin de semana para poder hacerlo. Espeor les haya gustado mi aporte, es la primera vez que comparto algo referente a mi hija, y pues la emoción es mucha para mi. Me despido hasta pronto!
