Hello everyone. How are you all? Hope you are all well. Happy New Year to all.
Every artist has a unique way of welcoming the New Year. For me, it was sitting in front of my beloved computer, opening up Illustrator, and unleashing my creativity. I wanted to start the New Year with something new, and so I did. The previous year was filled with both good and bad experiences. I hope this year will be much better than the previous one. Let me take you on a journey of how this particular piece of art came to life.
As the clock struck midnight on January 1st, I started drawing the lines for this art. Unlike my previous works, which were often based on dragons, healers, or fantasy characters, this time I ventured into the world of birds. The idea was to simply portray a playful and expressive cartoonish character of a cockatiel in a bright style.
I started with a rough outline, focusing on the bird’s posture and expression. This step was about experimenting and bringing out the character’s personality. Once I was satisfied with the basic shapes, I refined the lines, added more expression, and made sure the poses conveyed movement and emotion. The bird’s playful smile and lively pose began to take shape, and its playful essence became more evident.
Finally, I added color, using a light and cheerful palette to reflect the joy and optimism of the new year. Its orange cheek color, soft yellow feathers, and bold black lips work together to bring this character to life.
This artwork feels different from my previous work. It’s more fun, spontaneous, and filled with a sense of humor that I hope will connect with everyone who sees it. As an artist who has created countless images before, this piece of art is a new beginning and a step in a new direction for me.
