Carencias positivas de un gamer | Positive Shortages of a Gamer (ESP | ENG)

En un mundo donde las responsabilidades del trabajo, transporte, deudas y hasta el hogar nos mantienen constantemente ocupados, siendo absorbidos por la cotidianidad, encontrar una desconexión (O una reconexión) puede compararse, exagerando un poco, con el Castigo de Sísifo. Para muchos, aunque pocos lo crean de verdad, ese refugio de entre tantos como bailar, cantar, dibujar, pintar, leer, cocinar, correr, meditar, es el mundo de los videojuegos. Sin embargo, el deseo de seguir siendo gamer, viviendo en Venezuela, con la situación actual y todos los retos antes mencionados, puede verse frustrado cuando no se cuenta con un equipo adecuado para disfrutar de juegos de actualidad, o aquellos no antiguos pero exigentes a nivel gráfico, como por ejemplo GTA5 (para PC’s o Consolas) o Call Of Duty (Dispositivos móviles).

In a world where the responsibilities of work, commuting, debts, and even home life keep us constantly busy, being absorbed by the everyday routine, finding a way to disconnect (or reconnect) can be compared, exaggerating a bit, to Sisyphus' punishment. For many, though few truly believe it, that refuge, among so many like dancing, singing, drawing, painting, reading, cooking, running, meditating, is the world of video games. However, the desire to remain a gamer, living in Venezuela, with the current situation and all the challenges mentioned before, can be frustrated when you don't have the right equipment to enjoy modern games or those that aren't old but are graphically demanding, such as GTA5 (for PCs or consoles) or Call Of Duty (mobile devices).

Si apelamos a un ejemplo, Grand Theft Auto V, juego que ofrece una experiencia inmersiva y envolvente. Su vasto mundo abierto, sus historias intrigantes y su jugabilidad variada lo convierten en una escapatoria perfecta de la rutina diaria. Sin embargo, disfrutar plenamente de este juego puede ser un desafío si no se tiene una computadora (como es mi caso) adecuada o consola de última generación. Pero, ¿en realidad se puede disfrutar pese a no tener lo último en cuanto a Hardware? Esto es una sentencia subjetiva, sin embargo, intentaré responder esto más adelante.

Let's take Grand Theft Auto V as an example, a game that offers an immersive and engaging experience. Its vast open world, intriguing stories, and varied gameplay make it a perfect escape from daily routine. However, fully enjoying this game can be challenging if you don't have an adequate computer (as is my case) or a next-gen console. But, can you really enjoy it without the latest hardware? This is a subjective question, but I'll try to answer it later.

Para muchos, jugar videojuegos es más que un simple pasatiempo; es una forma de encontrar paz y equilibrio en medio del caos diario. Los juegos de concepto “Mundo abierto” como GTA5, suelen causar un gran impacto para aquellos que van más allá de la jugabilidad y calidad gráfica, siendo todo esto una herramienta, incluso, poderosa para el “bienestar mental” pese a lo contraproducente del concepto principal de ese título.

For many, playing video games is more than just a hobby; it's a way to find peace and balance amidst the daily chaos. Open-world concept games like GTA5 often have a significant impact on those who go beyond gameplay and graphics quality, serving as a powerful tool for "mental well-being" despite the contradictory main concept of the title.

Él, permite a los jugadores sumergirse en una narrativa compleja, explorar un vasto mundo y participar en actividades que van desde misiones intensas hasta simplemente conducir por la ciudad, disfrutando del paisaje virtual. Esta inmersión puede ayudar a reducir el estrés y la ansiedad, proporcionando un respiro de las presiones diarias, ofreciendo una sensación de logro y propósito. Completar misiones, desbloquear logros y progresar en la historia de un juego puede generar una satisfacción similar a la que se obtiene al cumplir metas en la vida real (Similar, que quede claro). Esta sensación de logro puede ser particularmente valiosa en momentos en los que las responsabilidades del hogar y el trabajo parecen abrumadoras, pues, la desconexión se ha completado (con lo exterior), mientras que estableces y fortaleces un vínculo (en tu interior), con el niño que, después de todo, es quién a través de sus ojos ves lo que ahora llaman la vida del adulto.

It allows players to immerse themselves in a complex narrative, explore a vast world, and engage in activities ranging from intense missions to simply driving around the city, enjoying the virtual scenery. This immersion can help reduce stress and anxiety, providing a break from daily pressures and offering a sense of accomplishment and purpose. Completing missions, unlocking achievements, and progressing through a game's story can generate satisfaction similar to achieving goals in real life (similar, to be clear). This sense of achievement can be particularly valuable when home and work responsibilities feel overwhelming, as the disconnection from the outside world is complete, while you establish and strengthen a bond with the child who, after all, is the one through whose eyes you see what is now called adult life.

Ser gamer es más que tener el último equipo; ¿recuerdan la pregunta anterior en donde se cuestiona si se puede disfrutar de una jugabilidad de un título exigente en un hardware ya considerado obsoleto? Pues, teniendo en cuenta que una Pasión puede adaptarse y prosperar incluso en circunstancias adversas a través de la creatividad y el amor, es posible seguir disfrutando, donde el tiempo invertido (sí señores, invertido) permite en ellos un refugio de paz y equilibrio, en lo personal mi calidad gráfica al momento de jugar es pésima, dirán algunos, pero la misma me ha enseñado que más allá de lo bonito, es la conexión que estableces.

Being a gamer is more than having the latest gear; remember the earlier question about enjoying a demanding title on hardware considered obsolete? Well, considering that a passion can adapt and thrive even in adverse circumstances through creativity and love, it is possible to keep enjoying, where the time invested (yes, invested) allows a refuge of peace and balance. Personally, my graphics quality when playing is terrible, some might say, but it has taught me that beyond the pretty visuals, it’s about the connection you establish.

Puedes sentirte el protagonista del juego, ser valiente, sabio o temerario, llamativo o sigiloso según tu modo de operar en lo virtual, puedes intentar enmendar situaciones “superpuestas” al mundo real desde lo imaginario, ser aquel que siempre quisiste ser, las razones o motivos los colocas tu. Pero sí, pese a todo, “todo” es posible; se logra sentir libertad incluso al jugar de una manera pixelada (con baja resolución | 640 x 480 u 800x 600), sobre algunos cuadernos (para evitar recalentamiento), jugar por un tiempo estipulado de unos 7 u 8 minutos máximo (evitar de igual manera el recalentamiento prolongado) y aun así sentirte afortunado, pues más allá de lograr jugar aunque sea un poco, es regresar a ese estado de alegría y serenidad.

You can feel like the protagonist of the game, be brave, wise, or reckless, flashy or stealthy depending on your virtual operating mode, you can try to mend situations "superimposed" onto the real world from the imaginary, be who you always wanted to be, the reasons or motives are up to you. But yes, despite everything, "everything" is possible; you can feel freedom even when playing in a pixelated way (with low resolution | 640 x 480 or 800 x 600), over some notebooks (to avoid overheating), playing for a set time of about 7 or 8 minutes max (to avoid prolonged overheating) and still feel fortunate, because beyond managing to play even a little, it's about returning to that state of joy and serenity.
