Como sabes, estamos a casi 1 mes de los Juegos Olímpicos París 2024...Mi emoción por ver a distintos deportistas del mundo es tan grande que quise plasmarlo en su Mascota Phryges.
Al inicio pensé sacar su patrón digital PDF. Luego, si bien no encontré la protección de sus derechos de autor (como en el caso de Milko en Lima 2019) y para evitar problemas legales, decidí grabar un video en YouTube el cual les avisaré cuando esté listo. Aunque esa versión si será tamaño mediano.
As you know, we are almost 1 month away from the Paris 2024 Olympic Games... My excitement to see different athletes from around the world is so great that I wanted to capture it in their Phryges Mascot.
At the beginning I thought of releasing his digital pattern PDF. Then, although I did not find copyright protection (as in the case of Milko in Lima 2019) and to avoid legal problems, I decided to record a video on YouTube which I will let you know when it is ready. Although that version will be medium sized.

En sí la mascota es un gorro con vida (o algo así), el cual significa principalmente libertad. Viendo la referencia de los peluches, amigurumi en YouTube y mascota oficial, quería hacer algo distinto. Mi idea inicial fue dejarle agujeros donde irían los brazos.
The mascot itself is a living cap (or something like that), which mainly means freedom. Seeing the reference to stuffed animals, amigurumi on YouTube and official mascot, I wanted to do something different. My initial idea was to leave holes where the arms would go.
Sí, tocó destejer y tachar la idea 1. La versión 2 sí tiene forma de gorro y me agrada más. Un punto importante cuando diseño es que el muñeco sea duradero y resista a las lavadas...Con esto me refiero al movimiento del relleno (siliconado). Porque si el relleno se aglomera solo en un lado (luego de varias lavadas) el muñeco perdería su forma y ya no sería el mismo, estaría como enfermo y sin energías (esto lo hago pensando en mi niño interior).
Version 2 does have the shape of a hat and I like it better. An important point when designing is that the doll should be durable and resistant to washing...I am referring to the movement of the stuffing (silicone). Because if the stuffing only clumps on one side (after several washes) the doll would lose its shape and it would not be the same, it would be sick and without energy (I do this thinking of my inner child).
A esto me refiero. Este diseño tiene el cuerpo y cabeza firme y está listo para resistir cuantas lavadas vengan, jaja. Además, los brazos están ligeramente articulados, en otras palabras sí cumple la función de brazos.
This design has a firm body and head and is ready to withstand as many washes as they come, jaja. Also, the arms are slightly articulated, in other words it does serve the function of arms.
Es un hecho que me encantan las zapatillas, por eso tenía que tejer a Phryges sí o sí. Lo entretenido estaba en diseñar la forma curva de su prótesis. Creo que me salió al 4° intento.
It's a fact that I love slippers, so I had to design Phryges for sure. The fun part was designing the curved shape of his prosthesis. I think I got it right on the 4th try.
Ahora me encuentro entre Guaman Poma y Phryges (tamaño mediano). Ambos llevan color rojo y a pesar de hace poco adquirir uno, sigue siendo escaso. Esto es porque cada diseño lleva versiones anteriores a ese diseño final...Sé que todo saldrá de maravilla, paciencia.
I am now torn between Guaman Poma and Phryges (medium size). Both are red in color and although I recently acquired one, it is still in short supply. This is because each design carries versions prior to that final design...I know it will be great, patience.
