2024 may not have been the best year, but it has been an awesome ride. As it comes to an end, we can only look back and count our blessings.
This year has been both bumpy and smooth. Judging by the setbacks we faced, it may seem like I didn’t accomplish much. From my mom being admitted to the hospital to having many uncompleted school projects, it took every ounce of self-control not to break down.
On the bright side, I received a scholarship from a tech academy in my city to study any tech course of my choice, a huge achievement, considering I was chosen out of 370 candidates who applied. I chose to study web development, which has been both tough and rewarding. Tough because the first three months were challenging, and it was difficult to grasp the concepts. Rewarding because I eventually found my footing and passed my mid-project.
2024 also brought me good friends, even though I lost some along the way. Despite being anti-social, I made new connections. One of the best friendships this year brought me was with Blessing. She’s been my go-to person for navigating school challenges, my cry buddy, seatmate, and study partner. I’m truly grateful for her.
I also had the chance to explore. I attended my first (and only) party of the year, which was fun but draining—I had to sleep for hours to recharge. I became a bit more open and closer to some friends. I had my first-ever fight with my best friend and made up as well. While some goals were achieved, others were not, but I’m grateful for every step forward.
Looking back, I wouldn’t call it a bad year. I achieved some goals and grew in ways I never imagined. Today marks the end of an era: the end of the year and the end of my cleaning activity for the year. We try again next year!
