The teachers' lounge_Das Lehrerzimmer, İlker Çatak, 2023

A teachers' lounge, a school like a city, like a country, like the world.
Small criminal events break the balance and mutual trust between students and teachers. Some masks fall and shatter, making noise.
The truth that goes beyond borders becomes a bulwark of freedom and for this reason clashes with limits, with prejudice, with exploitation.

Good intentions quickly turn evil and rather than understanding and sharing responsibilities we prefer to point fingers, misunderstand, shift attention, confuse, so that guilty and innocent are all alike and the last, the smallest, are left to pay the price.
Punishments and restrictions become a silent weapon to (illusively) bring back control and order and restore the status quo.

In reality it is all dust hidden under the carpets and the only algorithm, the only sequence that would solve the problem in a balanced and logical way would be to be identified in the meeting, in the dialogue, in the sharing. In that freedom that truth defends and that takes others into account so that differences and discolorations are not discriminating but paint an all-round, varied, complex picture and therefore beautiful to see and experience.

The staff room is a world (of threats and fears) reduced to scale.
The solution is an algorithm in the hands of a child. Like the future.
    Leonie Benesch is masterful.
