(ESP-ENG) Taifuu no Noruda - Short Movie!

Lately I've been wanting to watch short films because I feel that behind them there might be some undiscovered jewel. Also because I like to see the capacity they have to tell a story in such a short time. Being plots that do not reach half an hour, obviously we are not going to have the depth that we can find in a film of almost two hours, let alone an anime of 12 chapters; but still I feel that it is possible to appreciate other things beyond looking to be a staunch critic. This short film that I bring you is one that at least for me was quite relaxing and fresh, it is one of those things that you can watch to disconnect for a while from the day to day, in fact, I think it is perfect for that; I would say that that is its purpose but I would be making it up.

Últimamente me ha dado por querer ver cortometrajes porque siento que detrás de ellos es posible que se esconda alguna joya sin descubrir. También porque me gusta ver la capacidad que pueden tener para contar una historia en tan poco tiempo. Al ser tramas que no llegan a la media hora evidentemente la profundidad que podemos encontrar en un film de casi dos horas no la vamos a tener, ni hablar de un anime de 12 capítulos; pero aún así siento que es posible apreciar otras cosas más allá de buscar ser un crítico acérrimo. Este corto film que les traigo es uno que por lo menos para mi me resultó ser bastante relajante y fresco, es de esas cosas que puedes ver para desconectar un rato del día a día, es más, creo que es perfecto para eso; diría que ese es su fin pero que me lo estaría inventando.

This is the story of two friends, Azuma and Saijo, who live on an island belonging to Okinawa. They are inseparable, they have been best friends since they were kids but something happened between them and they ended up feuding. They go to the same school and are on the same baseball team but they don't seem to talk to each other anymore. Being on an island, the risk of typhoons is greater, so this community is indeed at risk since one of great proportions is approaching. During all the euphoria and nerves Azuma meets a mysterious girl named Noruda, whose main characteristic is that she has red eyes.

Esta es la historia de dos amigos, Azuma y Saijo, los cuales viven en una isla perteneciente a Okinawa. Estos son inseparables, han sido mejores amigos desde niños pero algo pasó entre ellos que terminaron enemistados. Van a la misma escuela y están en el mismo equipo de béisbol pero parece que ya no se hablan. Al estar en una isla el riesgo de tifones es más grande por lo que efectivamente dicha comunidad está en riesgo ya que se acerca uno de grandes proporciones. Durante toda la euforia y nervios Azuma conoce a una misteriosa chica llamada Noruda, cuya característica principal es que tiene los ojos rojos.

As they get to know each other, Azuma realizes that the girl has a certain connection to the storm that is about to hit the island, which will create some uncertainty and doubt as to who she is and where exactly she comes from. With the storm over the school the friends will have to put aside their differences to help each other and manage to finish safe and sound while they decipher the purpose of that girl which endangers the entire island as Noruda's intentions can become a real threat to all the inhabitants of the small island. As you can see, it is a very simple story which is very much about friendship, trust and always seeking to do what is best for each other.

A medida que se van conociendo Azuma se dará cuenta que aquella chica tiene cierta conexión con la tormenta que está a punto de azotar la isla lo cual le creará cierta incertidumbre y duda con respecto a quien es ella y de donde proviene exactamente. Con la tormenta sobre el colegio los amigos tendrán que dejar al lado sus diferencias para ayudarse entre si y lograr terminar sanos y salvos mientras descifran el propósito de aquella chica el cual pone en peligro a toda la isla ya que las intenciones de Noruda pueden llegar a ser una amenaza real para todos los habitantes de la pequeña isla. Como ven es una historia muy simple la cual va mucho de lo que significa la amistad, la confianza y el buscar siempre hacer lo mejor en pro del otro.

This film as a curious fact is directed by Yojiro Arai who is known to be a collaborator of Studio Ghibli, hence the very particular animation it has. In fact I would say that it is one of the highlights of the film, it is very beautiful, fluid, the colors are very vivid, the details of the clouds and water are very top; it is something that is very nice to see basically because of its simplicity. It's not something that's overloaded, not something with infinite details that you have to pay attention to; quite the contrary. I feel that behind the peacefulness of its animation there is a story with the same characteristics, something ideal to watch when options are scarce.

Este film como dato curioso está dirigido por Yojiro Arai quien se sabe que es un colaborador de Studio Ghibli, de ahí la animación tan particular que tiene. De hecho diría que es de lo más destacable de la película, es muy bonita, fluida, los colores son muy vivos, los detalles de las nubes y el agua son muy top; es algo que da mucho gusto ver básicamente por su sencillez. No es algo que esté muy cargado, ni que con infinitos detalles a los que haya que prestarle atención; todo lo contrario. Siento que detrás de lo apacible de su animación hay una historia con las mismas características, algo ideal para ver cuando las opciones sean escasas.

As it is logical the plot has many holes, it only lasts 27 minutes, the ideal is that you leave aside all those questions and just dedicate yourself to watch the movie and enjoy it. Yes, I would have liked to know a little more about the characters but it is what it is, it is a film that is not made with that intention. Generally these films are made to show animation or a concept of it, hence the plot is basic and shallow. Above I can tell you that it is a story where at the moment of truth true friendships prevail over time, it is normal that there are ups and downs but nothing that can not be solved by talking and expressing feelings without fear. It also has some intrigue because of everything surrounding Noruda, she is presented as a strange girl who appeared out of nowhere. I think this has a certain charm to it, sometimes you don't need to know everything.

Como es lógico la trama tiene muchos huecos, solo dura 27 minutos, lo ideal es que dejes a un lado todas esas preguntas y solo te dediques a ver la película y disfrutarla. Si, me hubiese gustado conocer un poco más acerca de los personajes pero es lo que hay, es un film que no está hecho con esa intención. Generalmente estas películas se hacen para mostrar la animación o un concepto de ella, de ahí a que la trama sea básica y poco profunda. Por encima les puedo decir que es una historia en donde a la hora de la verdad las amistades verdaderas prevalecen en el tiempo, es normal que existan altibajos pero nada que no se puede resolver hablando y expresando los sentimientos sin miedo. También tiene algo de intriga por todo lo que rodea a Noruda, ella es presentada como una chica extraña que apareció de la nada. Creo que esto tiene cierto encanto, a veces no es necesario saberlo todo.

The characters are basic, kids being kids but with a vocation to always help and want to solve problems. They are more mature than you might think, that's a very cool thing to see. Noruda is mystical, little can be said about her other than that she is the center of everything that happens. Anyway, it's a film suitable to sit and watch when you have nothing to do, it has a very nice animation, an interesting story but it's true that you might be left a little in the air with certain things you would have liked to know. Los personajes son básicos, niños siendo niños pero con una vocación de ayudar siempre y a querer resolver los problemas. Son más maduros de lo que se podría pensar, eso es algo muy cool de ver. Noruda es mística, poco se puede decir de ella más allá de que es el centro de todo lo que pasa. En fin, es un film apto para sentarse a ver cuando no tengas nada que hacer, tiene una animación muy bonita, una historia interesante pero si que es verdad que es posible que te quedes un poco en el aire con ciertas cosas que te hubiese gustado saber.
