This morning started with a shiver, as temperatures dipped below zero, but that didn’t stop me. I started with some quick exercises on my terrace, bracing myself against the chill. Then, I hopped on my bike, pedaling through icy air all the way to Jungfernheide Volkspark. It was a beautiful, albeit freezing, ride. Walking through the park, the cold felt sharper than I’d anticipated, biting through my layers. Yet, there was a haunting beauty in the scene, when the water is warmer than the air, a fog rises and floats eerily over the surface, transforming the little lake into a ghostly vision of mist and the epic sunrise added very well to a great motif for today. This fog effect was everywhere all along the way back on the River Spree also, creating a surreal, almost cinematic scenery, as if the river itself was breathing out clouds of frost.
