Greetings, dear friends of the Daily Blog community, I hope everyone is having a great day, and I, for one, am feeling pretty good. I, for one, am feeling pretty good. Have you ever been used to doing something and then you get to do the complete opposite? That's just what happened to me and I'll give you a little context first so it makes more sense. For those of you who haven't seen some of my other posts I want you to know that I'm a photographer and I've been used to always being behind the camera directing models and realizing those ideas that are in my head for several years, but the day came when I got to be in front of the camera and model for someone else, which is something completely new to me and made my day different.
Saludos, queridos amigos de la comunidad Daily Blog, espero que todos estén teniendo un excelente día. Yo, por mi parte, me encuentro bastante bien. ¿Alguna vez han estado acostumbrados a hacer algo y luego les toca hacer todo lo contrario? Eso es justo lo que me sucedió a mí y les daré un poco de contexto primero para que tenga más sentido. Para aquellos que no han visto algunas de mis otras publicaciones quiero que sepan que soy fotógrafo y tengo varios años acostumbrado a estar siempre detrás de la cámara dirigiendo modelos y realizando aquellas ideas que están en mi cabeza, pero llegó el día que me tocó estar delante de la cámara y ser modelo para otra persona, lo cual es algo completamente nuevo para mí e hizo que mi día fuese distinto.
My friend Mariale is studying design and one of the tasks she had to do was to take pictures of someone else and I offered to be her model, at first I said it as an idea that I didn't think my friend would take seriously, but when she accepted immediately I knew that now I had to take it seriously too. But I had a separate idea, I was interested in having someone do a photo shoot for me with a flannel I had had made (I will show you some pictures at the end), so it seemed like an excellent idea that it would all be on the same day.
Mi amiga Mariale estudia diseño y una de las tareas que debía realizar era hacerle fotografías a otra persona y yo me ofrecí para ser su modelo, al principio lo dije como una idea que no pensé que fuese a tomar en serio mi amiga, pero cuando aceptó inmediatamente sabía que ahora tenía que tomármelo en serio también. Pero tuve una idea aparte, yo estaba interesado en que alguien me hiciese una sesión fotográfica con una franela que había mandado a hacer (les mostraré algunas fotos al final), por lo que me pareció una excelente idea que todo fuese en ese mismo día.
I asked another friend named Kat to accompany us, my plan was for her to take pictures of us while everything was happening, I wanted to have it as a nice memory of the first time I had to model for someone else, but after that session that served as an assignment for my friend Mariale, Kat would be my next photographer, so it would be a full day for modeling and just for this I took a flannel for Mariale's assignment and the other flannel I mentioned to you at the beginning for the pictures I wanted.
When the time came, the three of us met up and walked around looking for an ideal place for Mariale to choose where she wanted to take the pictures. After walking a few streets, we ended up in a place used by many other photographers. Here I showed Mariale how to use my camera so that her work would have a better quality when she was going to deliver it. I didn't want to overwhelm her with so much information either, so I simply told her the things she would need most and she, on her own, started to take the pictures she needed to take according to the indications I had.
Le pedí a otra amiga llamada Kat que nos acompañase, mi plan era que ella nos hiciese fotografías mientras todo iba ocurriendo, quería tenerlo como un lindo recuerdo de la primera vez que tuve que ser modelo para alguien más, pero luego de esa sesión que servía de tarea para mi amiga Mariale, Kat sería mi siguiente fotógrafa, por lo que sería un día completo para ser modelo y justo por esto me llevé una franela para la tarea de Mariale y la otra franela que les mencioné al principio para las fotografías que yo quería.
Al llegar la hora, nos reunimos los tres, estuvimos caminando buscando un lugar ideal para que Mariale eligiese donde le convenía más hacer las fotografías. Luego de recorrer algunas calles, terminamos en un lugar bastante usado por muchos otros fotógrafos. Aquí le enseñé a Mariale cómo usar mi cámara para que su trabajo tuviese una mejor calidad cuando lo fuese a entregar. Tampoco quise abrumarle con tanta información, por lo que simplemente le comenté las cosas que más necesitaría y ella, por su cuenta, empezó a hacer las fotografías que debía según las indicaciones que tenía.
It was something extremely fast, even I was surprised with how fast we took the pictures for her assignment, but she was pretty sure that she already had everything she needed (fun fact, she didn't really have everything, there was still one picture missing, so days later we had to go back to the place to take that missing picture), so, I proceeded to change the flannel I had to start with the session with my other friend Kat. Just like with Mariale I had to explain to Kat how to use my camera, which she really learned pretty fast and looked very happy and taking a lot of pictures that I really ended up liking a lot.
It was a day in which I modeled for two people and also acted as a teacher to teach a little bit about my knowledge of photography. It feels kind of nice to pass on those little tips that you would have liked, when you start in the world of photography, to be told that too. But I have to be very honest with something else, I didn't feel very comfortable being a model, I mean, the experience of spending time with my two friends and laughing throughout the whole process was very entertaining and I enjoyed it, but being in front of the camera really made me a bit nervous, plus, not knowing how the pictures were turning out and not being able to direct the framing was really frustrating, but I had to have the whole modeling experience and just pose without worrying about anything else. All in all, I feel like both Mariale and Kat's pictures of me turned out pretty well, so it was actually a pretty productive day for all three of us. I got some new pictures that I really wanted and they got some photography knowledge and a fun afternoon.
Fue algo sumamente rápido, hasta yo quedé sorprendido con la rapidez en que hicimos las fotografías para su tarea, pero ella estaba bastante segura de que ya tenía todo lo que necesitaba (Dato curioso, realmente no lo tenía todo, aún faltaba una fotografía, por lo que días después tuvimos que volver al lugar para hacer esa fotografía faltante), así que, procedí a cambiarme la franela que tenía para empezar con la sesión junto a mi otra amiga Kat. Al igual que con Mariale tuve que explicarle a Kat sobre cómo usar mi cámara, lo que realmente aprendió bastante rápido y se le veía muy contenta y haciendo un montón de fotos que realmente me terminaron gustando bastante.
Fue un día en el que hice de modelo para dos personas y también hice de profesor para enseñar un poco sobre mis conocimientos de fotografía. Se siente algo lindo transmitir esos pequeños consejos que te hubiese gustado que, cuando inicias en el mundo de la fotografía, te lo contasen también. Pero debo ser muy honesto con otra cosa, no me sentí muy cómodo siendo modelo, quiero decir, la experiencia de pasar tiempo con mis dos amigas y reírnos en todo el proceso estuvo muy entretenido y lo disfruté, pero el estar frente a la cámara realmente me puso algo nervioso, además que, el no saber cómo estaban quedando las fotografías ni poder dirigir los encuadres realmente fue algo frustrante, pero tenía que tener toda la experiencia completa de ser modelo y solo posar sin preocuparme por nada más. A fin de cuentas, siento que tanto las fotografías que me hizo Mariale y Kat quedaron bastante bien, por lo que fue realmente un día bastante productivo para los tres. Yo obtuve fotografías nuevas que realmente ya quería y ellas obtuvieron conocimiento de fotografía y una tarde divertida.
To end this day I invited them to have some smoothies to end the day. It was a very pleasant moment, we laughed, talked about different topics and simply relaxed after having had a busy day, it really is a good way to end the day, sitting around drinking something cold like the smoothie and enjoy without worrying about the rest. It's nice to share with your friends and do different activities from time to time.
Para finalizar este día les invité a tomarnos unos batidos y así dar por terminado el día. Fue un momento bastante ameno, nos reímos, platicamos de distintos temas y simplemente nos relajamos luego de haber tenido un día bastante movido, realmente es una buena forma de terminar el día, estar sentados tomando algo frío como lo era el batido y disfrutar sin preocupaciones por lo demás. Es grato compartir con tus amistades y hacer actividades distintas de vez en cuando.
