Installing Ceiling Fan
This project was on our spring list. My husband installed the ceiling fan, and I assisted with some parts of it. My dog supervised us. When my husband checked the summer weather forecast, it showed that it would be very hot in our area. Hmm... we have a heat pump, but I don't like that cold feeling it brings. We don't use the heat pump much in the summer, except for on super hot days.
When I was in the hottest area in Japan, the summer was super humid and hot. I couldn't survive without the heat pump. Here, we don't usually have extreme temperatures in the summer, but this up-and-down climate is unpredictable.
I used to have a ceiling fan in my hometown, which was very useful in any season. When we moved into our current house, we noticed that it was possible to install a ceiling fan. However, we didn't have enough time or budget to renovate our house environment for a while. A few years passed very quickly.
This spring, finally, we can start thinking about gradually renovating our house. Our main theme colour became red and black when we installed our wood stove, which is red and black. That's why I chose a black ceiling fan this time. The previous owner liked a slightly fancier style of lighting, but my taste is simpler. I would like to gradually change them to fit my preferences.
After installing the ceiling fan, we felt very comfortable. That night, we kept it running all night long along with our wood stove and heat pump. Yes, it was very comfortable in our bedroom, which is on the edge of the house. We don't need to use a panel heater in the bedroom anymore.
I don't like to read instruction booklets... My husband is usually good at following instructions, but the booklet was very strange, so he watched the video. It was pretty complicated to set up. We called the home hardware store, which is also connected to our house. It's very easy to find parts from this hardware store because our house parts are the same. Their interior selection is pretty simple and easy to fit into our house.
Let's check the ceiling. When we consulted our blue-chip sheet for this house, it indicated that the ceiling is ready for installing lights or a ceiling fan. However, we felt a bit concerned about the reinforcement of the ceiling. So, we decided to call the home hardware office. The lady who answered the phone also lives in the same house brand. She assured us that all ceilings were ready to accommodate any lights. Good to go!
I only assisted with the final part of the installation. It looks good on the ceiling. It took about a few hours to complete.
Firstly, the light was not on because we switched on the wrong breakers. Finally, we made it!
It spins very quietly and smoothly.
It looks very simple and fits there very well.
Oh, there is a supervisor dog who is curious about moving things on the ceiling. He couldn't stop checking it. I don't think he can jump and check it but he thinks it's possible.

シーリングファンを取りつける
このプロジェクトは春にやることリストに入っているものです。とは言っても、主人が取り付けて私はただ補助をしただけなのですが…。私の犬は現場監督さんでした。主人が今年の夏はかなり暑くなるのではないかと天気予報を見て言っていたことがきっかけで、シーリングファンを取り付けることになりました。うーん…。エアコンはあるのですが、エアコンをガンガンつけた時の寒さが苦手です。かなり暑い日以外は夏でもエアコンをなるべく避けたいと思っています。
日本でかなり暑い地域に住んでいたときの夏は、信じられないくらい湿気が多くて暑かったです。エアコンなしでは乗り越えられるわけがありませんでした。今住んでいるところは、夏にとんでもない暑さになることは滅多にありませんが、ここ数年の予想不可能な天候は困ったものです。
故郷にいたときにシーリングファンを使用していたことがあります。どの季節にも役立つのでとても便利でした。この家に来てから天井にシーリングファンを取り付けられる場所があるのを認識していたのにも関わらず、忙しさと予算のなさにかまけて何もしないままあっという間に日々が過ぎてしまいました。
今春はやっと少しずつ家のことを考えられるようになってきました。黒と赤の薪ストーブをつけたことで、家のテーマカラーが自然と黒と赤になりました。今回取り付けたシーリングファンも黒を選びました。元の大家さんの趣味は私にはちょっとファンシーすぎるので、自分ではもう少しシンプルなものを好みます。少しずつ自分好みのものに変えていきたいです。
シーリングファンを設置してからは快適に感じます。設置した日は２４時間使いっぱなしにする必要があったので、薪ストーブとエアコンの温風をつけたままシーリングファンを回して就寝しました。家の端にある寝室が快適な温度に保たれました。寝室のパネルヒーターを使う必要がなさそうです。
私は説明書を読むのが苦手です。主人は説明書に沿って作業をすすめるのが得意な方ですが、この商品にはおかしな説明書ついていて理解しづらかったのでビデオを見て取り付けました。なかなか入り組んだ取付方でした。家とホームセンターのメーカーが同じなので、取りつける前に念のために電話をして確認をしました。このホームセンターで取り扱っている商品は家のパーツと同じなので見つけるのはとても簡単です。インテリアの部門の商品はかなりシンプルで、セルフでの取り付けも割と簡単にできるものが多いと思います。
さて、さっそく天井を見ていきましょう。家の図面を確認してみたところ、天井部分にある丸い蓋がついている部分はライトやシーリングライトの取り付け可能と記載されています。ところが、家のハリの部分の強度が確かなものかどうか心配ではあったので、ホームセンターの事務所に電話して再確認しました。電話の対応をしてくださった女性の家も同じメーカーで家の構造をよく理解している方でした。ライトの設置をする準備が整っている天井だと教えてくれましたので安心しました。早速取り付けましょう！
私が手伝ったのは最終段階だけです。天井がいい感じです。いろいろと含めて数時間で取付完了しました。
間違えて別のブレーカーのスイッチを入れて点灯をしたので、作動せずに多少混乱しましたが、最終的には無事に点灯確認できました！
音がなくて静かでなめらかに回転しています。
とてもシンプルでいい感じに部屋に馴染んでいます。
おっ、現場監督犬は天井で回るシーリングライトに興味があるようです。気になって仕方がない様子です。ジャンプしても絶対に届かない高さだと思いますよ。
