Daily activities - Finished installing one soar panel rack; installing the other rack. install timer for electric water heater.
Dear friends,
Yesterday, with the help of my friend, I install three solar panels, connected the two DC and the earth cables. I finished that in the afternoon and had a chance to test it under direct sun light.
I found that the three 630W solar panels are charging at around 1.3 KW with around 20 amperes current into the battery. I changed the charging setting to PV first, land line second setting: only if there is no solar charging, the battery will be charged from the land line electricity. I still need to install three more solar panels and after installing them, I think the charging wattage will be around or over 2.5KW when there is direct sun light on the panels. I found that when there wasn't direct sun light, the charging current had dropped from around 20 amp (when there is direct sun light) to around 5 ampere (with the sun at around 3:30 PM).
When I installed the panels, I checked whether they have connected electrically for connecting them to the earth wire. I found each panels gave over 50 Volt. I am happy with the installation and now we can depend on solar power and reduce using electricity from the land line.
And today, I installed the second rack for holding the other three solar panels. Because, I have installed one time, I was able to finish this in a day. Tomorrow, I will build the frame onto this rack, on which solar rails and panels will be installed. With six 630 W solar panels, I think the charging wattage would be over 2 KW when there is sunshine and around 1KW when it is cloudy.
And today, I also installed timer for electric water heater and set the timer to switch on the timer at 10:00 AM and off at 3:00 PM, when there is plenty of sun light. Because I will complete installing all the solar panels soon, I would like the water heater use the power from the solar panels. I will see if it works as I expect.
Those are some of the activities for yesterday today.
