When Indian team was selected for Australian tour back in October this year, nobody thought that, the likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Kl Rahul Rishabh Pant and all other senior players will be overshadowed by fresh legs like Nitish Kumar Reddy and Yashasvi Jaiswal, not even in dreams because of the toughness of the tour to Australia where, fast bouncy pitches will make even best batsmen to take backfoot.

But, not only Nitish Kumar Reddy and Jaiswal proved all of us wrong, but have shown that, they belong here!!

I am gonna write about the guy who scored a century today and that is none other than the new sensation in Indian cricket, Nitish Kumar Reddy.

Nitish is now the leading scorer for India after day 3 of the Fourth ongoing test match of the Border Gavaskar Trophy with the match being played in the famous Melbourne Cricket Ground aka MCG!!!.

He isn't finished yet as he remained not out when the play has to be stopped bit early due to light rain and fading light and he just scored his First century today after promising yet delightful knock in the first 3 matches he played although he was out of partners in most of those innings he played as he is slotted to bat at number 7 so far, but that may change after his century score today.

Nitish Kumar Reddy showed in IPL 2024 that, he can score runs, he can take wickets and he is a good fielder too and his good show in IPL with Sun Risers Hyderabad made him break into Indian team as he played T20I's against Bangladesh in October and good show with both bat and ball means, he knocked on the doors of selectors for selecting him to the tour to Australia for the Border Gavaskar Trophy and straightaway he made it to the First Test with Rohit Sharma unavailable and batting at number 7, he didn't show any signs of nervousness as he played some reverse shots and all to score 41 in First innings and followed it up with 38 not out in Second innings ensuring India wins the test in Perth.

Although India couldn't win the Second test in Adelaide, Nitish scored 42 each in each innings and got his First test wicket too.

But the highlight of his show so far is the century he scored today in Melbourne and had a century partnership with Washington Sundar after India were 7 down for 221.

Nitish and Washington Sundar not only helped India avoid follow-on, but went to to erase reduce the deficit before Washington Sundar got out 4 overs before the days play got halted due to rain and fading light means, just 4 overs were possible after Washington Sundar got out and India lost another wicket in the form of Jasprit Bumrah in those 4 overs of play.

Nitish Kumar Reddy continues to play the fearless cricket he has played so far in the 4 tests and he is now the highest run scorer for India in this ongoing test series and is just behind the twin centurion Travis Head with Yashavi Jaiswal pushed to number 3 as on day 3 of the ongoing test.

Let's hope Nitish continues to play for some more time tomorrow and scores few more runs for India to reduce the gap as much as possible.
