I do not agree with him, since I am of the opinion that, whoever visits Alcarria one day, sooner or later returns, even if it is dreaming of any of the pearls, which, in the form of memories, one day remained forever engraved in the deepest and most hidden part of his retina.
One of such pearls, not major, of course, but ambivalent in history and heritage - blessed treasure, although many think otherwise - is the Palacio del Infantado, whose majestic and at the same time, magnetic architecture, built in the time of the Kings Catholic, in Elizabethan Gothic style - hence, precisely, that such an adjective is added to its original Gothic style, as occurs with the Toledo monastery of San Juan de los Reyes - by the architect, Juan Guas, at the request of Iñigo López de Mendoza y Luna - scion of two of the oldest and most illustrious surnames in Spain - and second Duke of Infantado, who sought to obtain the elevation of a building, not only notable at the time, but also worthy of his important lineage, to the point that several kings, such as Philip II and Philip V, celebrated their nuptials there, to the point that, even today, it is considered one of the great jewels of European civil architecture, even with the later Renaissance adaptations that were made. his heirs.
Decía aquel sabueso gourmet, además de reconocido escritor e improvisado cronista, que fue Camilo José Cela, que todo el mundo habla de la Alcarria, pero que, paradójicamente, nadie va a la Alcarria. Una de tales perlas, que no majórica, desde luego, pero sí ambivalente en historia y patrimonio -bendito tesoro, aunque muchos piensen lo contrario- es el Palacio del Infantado, cuya mayestática y a la vez, magnética arquitectura, levantado en época de los Reyes Católicos, en estilo gótico isabelino -de ahí, precisamente, que a su estilo gótico original se le añada tal adjetivo, como ocurre con el monasterio toledano de San Juan de los Reyes- por el arquitecto, Juan Guas, a instancias de Iñigo López de Mendoza y Luna -vástago de dos de los apellidos más antiguos e ilustres de España- y segundo duque del Infantado, quien pretendía conseguir el alzado de un edificio, no sólo notable en la época, sino también digno de su importante linaje, hasta el punto de que en él celebraron sus esponsales varios reyes, como Felipe II y Felipe V, hasta el punto de que, incluso hoy, está considerado como una de las grandes joyas de la arquitectura civil europea, incluso con las posteriores adaptaciones de índole renacentista que hicieron sus herederos.
