Not riches, not education, not luxuries in life will keep your family intact, but you must be under the gospel, you must be under Christ. This is the best way of maintaining a unified family, it doesn't matter whether you are rich or poor, submitting to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ by learning His ways and passing it on to the family, is the best way to go. Eating together and praying together and doing things in common will ensure the unity of one's family.
1 Peter 1:17 says;
Since you call on a Father who judges each person's work impartially, live out your time as foreigners here in reverent fear.
He was writing to the first century christians, that they should conduct themselves with fear during their sojourn here on earth so we must have the fear of the Lord in all we do, and at all times, we must reverence Him by keeping His laws and commandments. The idea of the fear of the lord is the idea of reverence, of awe, of respect, of regard.
We should stop trying to convince ourselves that we belong here. We should stop trying to fit in. We should embrace our status as foreigners, strangers, sojourners here on Earth. And, yes, we should live with some amount of healthy fear knowing that time is ticking!
