So you ask the question, is this really a red winged blackbird? After all, it is not really black, and the wings don’t look so red either. The answer is yes, because it’s a female! The male is the one that is black with the red wings. I had no idea they could differ so vastly, but indeed they do. Thanks to the Sigma zoom lens, I can get some super close up photos. This lens is really fantastic to use. These photos were taken at the local pond. Going back again soon to see if I can discover any other bird species. Wish me luck.
