Unfortunately, all good things come to an end, and with today's story we end the adventure at the Vatican Gardens that you have already had the opportunity to learn about in these previous posts of mine: part I, part II.
Although I’m not a religious person, this enchanted place has remained in my heart. I think it's also because of its hidden beauties, which you don't hear about in history books. In fact, very often tourists visit the Vatican Museums, which are located nearby and host the marvelous Sistine Chapel, as well as hundreds of other works by famous artists. The Pope's Gardens, however, have always remained a very private and inaccessible place.
In the gardens there are numerous fountains, as water in the Christian religion is a symbol of life and prosperity. One of the most interesting in my opinion is the Eagle Fountain, of which you can see a photo below.
Although the walk is long (2/3 hours), it is possible to rest on the numerous benches, temples, sanctuaries and caves that have been positioned within the Gardens. However, if you decide to sit, it is mandatory to remain silent because you could encounter people who are meditating or praying.
The cave that left the most impression on me is undoubtedly the reproduction of the famous Lourdes Grotto, dedicated to the Madonna and built in 1902. Just think that the dimensions and the altar are the same as the original cave!
Finally, walking through the Gardens it is possible to have a breathtaking view of the Vatican City and the famous St. Peter's Basilica. It is undoubtedly the best place from which to take a photo of this important building!

Purtroppo, tutte le cose belle hanno una fine, e con il racconto di oggi terminiamo l’avventura presso i Giardini Vaticani che avete già avuto modo di conoscere in questi miei precedenti post: parte I, parte II.
Sebbene io non sia una persona religiosa, questo luogo incantato mi è rimasto nel cuore. Penso che sia anche a causa delle sue bellezze nascoste, di cui non si sente parlare nei libri di storia. Infatti, molto spesso i turisti visitano i Musei Vaticani, che si trovano lì vicino e ospitano la meravigliosa Cappella Sistina, oltre a centinaia di altre opere di famosi artisti. I Giardini del Papa, invece, sono sempre rimasti un luogo molto privato e inaccessibile.
Nei giardini sono presenti numerose fontane, in quanto l’acqua nella religione cristiana è simbolo di vita e prosperità. Una delle più interessanti secondo me è la Fontana dell’Aquila, di cui in basso potrete vedere una foto.
Sebbene la passeggiata sia lunga (2/3 ore), è possibile riposarsi nelle numerose panchine, tempietti, santuari e grotte che sono stati posizionati all’interno dei Giardini. È obbligatorio però, se si decide di sedersi, rimanere in silenzio perché si potrebbero incontrare delle persone che stanno meditando o pregando.
La grotta che mi è rimasta più impressa è senza dubbio la riproduzione della famosa Grotta di Lourdes, dedicata alla Madonna ed edificata nel 1902. Pensate che dimensioni e l’altare sono le stesse della grotta originale!
Infine, passeggiano tra i Giardini è possibile avere un panorama mozzafiato sulla Città del Vaticano e sulla famosa Basilica di San Pietro. È senza dubbio il luogo migliore da cui fare una foto di questo importante edificio!
