5-min Freewrite: The Deep Monday Morning Groan

    BEEP! BEEP!! BEEP!!!

The alarm clock screamed like it had a personal vendetta against Ade.

Half-asleep, he slapped at the clock on his nightstand, hoping to silence the dreadful noise. Instead, all he achieved was knocking over his phone, a glass of water, and what was left of the chips from last night.

That was when reality hit. It was Monday.

A deep groan rumbled from his throat, a sound so rough it could have been mistaken for a mini earthquake. If groaning were an Olympic sport, he would have taken gold.

The weekend had been perfect: lazy mornings, late-night movies, and zero responsibilities. But now he had to face emails, deadlines, and MJ from accounting, who somehow always had too much energy for a Monday.

His body refused to cooperate. He stared at the ceiling, contemplating his life choices. Maybe if he stayed perfectly still, time would freeze. Maybe if he wished hard enough, it would miraculously be Saturday again.

    The alarm blared again.

    Ade groaned louder.

The world was cruel. The weekend had ended too soon.

With a sigh, he finally dragged himself out of bed, his legs feeling like they weighed a thousand pounds. He slowly moved to the bathroom, the sight of his reflection making him groan again. Even his hair looked exhausted.

“Maybe I can call in sick,” he muttered to himself, rubbing his face.

But he knew the truth. Monday always comes quicker than expected.
