Did you know that recipes can contribute to creating lasting food memories? So, not just the cheerfulness of family dining can you call a family food tradition, even the recipes in the food could create a significant impact and a powerful connection within the family. It Is quite mesmerizing but you'll get to understand better as we dice and chop ideas together.

Recipes are guides that one follows to prepare a sumptuous meal - they include ingredients, their respective measurements, and instructions to follow in the course of preparation. Personally, I see recipes as secret formulas that make a food unique - they're the SI UNITS in maths, without them, your food is just a mere dish but with your magic recipe, the world revolves around your pot. So, how do they leave long-lasting food memories? Firstly, recipes have a way of building family heritage from generation to generation. If a particular recipe is really common among family members, this is to say anytime that a dish is served in any of their meetings, their meetings, it resonates with a spirit of commonness and this brings unity amongst different taste buds. This is to say food recipes are one of the ways family traditions are maintained especially family food traditions.

Also, for the revolution of time, new ideas continue to be birthed, and trying out new things won't be bad. Family can have moments of discovering new recipes, sharing tips among themselves to bring new stuff to the family food traditions, and creating moments of learning more. This quest to discover more secret recipes creates room for learning among family members, as well as the joy that comes with trying out new recipes and creating new food traditions together. It's such a beautiful thing when we value the ideas of others because love will always coexist in such a sphere.

Additionally, in the course of preparing these foods, it would be much lovelier if family members work collectively to prepare a meal - it implies there's bonding in food. Bonding on the dining table alone is not enough because you won't spend so much time eating compared to the time spent cooking. I learned how to dice carrots finer and faster while in the kitchen with my family. I also got to know that in steaming chicken, you don't need to put water in the pot at first because the meat has fluid in it. I was perplexed because I thought it was a normal culture to put water in a cooking pot anyhow. So, learning takes place while preparing food collectively. You share ideas and gain knowledge in exchange, foster connections, and strengthen relationships.

On the first day, I visited Otta, a city in the heart of Ogun state, Nigeria. - I heard of a popular dish called Egusi soup, ikoñ in my mother tongue and Melon in English. I decided to try it out since it is a popular Nigerian dish - it was an a la carte and so I chose the soup alongside a local drink. When I got served, I dipped the swallowed food in the soup and took it in I had a trigger in my gustatory cortex and I quickly recognized the recipe in that soup as it was similar to the one I enjoyed at home. The presence of crayfish sauce in that soup was so pronounced and that is my family's style of preparing Melon soup. I ate this finger-licking dish and I felt so much at home. It gave me a very nostalgic feeling like I was in my family's house. This is the power of family food traditions - the recipes will always leave you with a lasting food memory.
