For the first season i would rate this movie 8/10, that is basically because its a well planned and scripted movie, i'm not a movie freak but i get glued when i see a movie that catches my attention for atleast the first 30 minutes, i can then go on, so for the first episode its a movie that builds your interest from the ground up and gets you wondering what will likely come up next, so you gradually understand the plots, scene, character and the storyline in each episode building unto the nextone.
What catches my attention first was Ragnor daring move to explore the western lands, despite the king order to sail east, like a stubborn child Ragnor insist on sailing west taking full Responsibility for the entire crew and voyage, he was restless, persistent and daring even when everyone doubted the possibility of any lands to the west, Ragnar knew like he was so sure of the possibility that lay ahead of him. He started by craft a compass that could guide them to their destination then convinced his brother and fellow warriors to his bidding which they finally obliged even against their king order.
They finally pushed through with their plans invaded the west lands and came back with treasures and spoils to the disbelieve of every one, the king seized the entire treasure but Ragnor was clever enough to request for one of the captives a priest who speaks their language and also believed to have vast knowledge of other lands to the west.
The King began to have doubts about the people still paying loyalty and respect to him, instead turning to respect Ragnor lothbrok instead above him, it was believed he was destined to succeed him, but he kicked against the words of the gods and went ahead to challenge Ragnor to a one-on-one combat which led to his death and Ragnor taking over as the new king.
Ragnor continues ravaging the western lands and creating Allys with other kings and kingdom one which will eventually cause him dearly, the Gods reveal that Ragnor is in danger from some magical powers, this is true cause in last episode of season one, Ragnor while away begins to have an affair with another woman, while some mysterious sickness ravage his kingdom, his daughter died from this sickness while at the same time his mistress is pregnant for him...
Lots of Tension is built up for season two, which i can't wait to get on..
