The forecast was right for once yesterday morning. Woke up to it snowing. Big fat wet heavy snow flakes falling in the glow of the yard lights.
It was above freezing but the snow kept falling as we got ready to go to the tournament up north.
The drive up was a pain in the ass with people crawling all over the highways but we made it and managed a spot to sit with the team. This tournament was run like no others before. They started with the 7/8 year olds and just plowed through the brackets.
It kept snowing like crazy outside while the matches went on.
R's first match went the full distance/time and ended up on points.
Which R won by a few points.
The second match we had to wait 4 minutes to start since the matches couldn't be closer than 15 minutes apart. They were running a super tight ship and the matches went super fast. R had trouble with the second match.
He got pinned but shouldn't have been a pin as the kid's arm was under R's shoulder. But anyway he went to the 3rd place match.
I had watched for the kid he was to wrestle for third in his prior match but apparently he didn't show so they scratched him. I had seen that so knew R was going to get the auto win with the kid scratching. This was R standing on the mat waiting for the scratch.
And his first medal of the season and he is quite happy since now he has a medal for each place.
We were amazed that it was a little after 10 am and we were leaving to head for home. It was 11am when we got back to the farm in a completely rare occurrence for wrestling tournament days.
After we were at home a while I went out to get the snow off the canopy and it splooshed right onto the engine. I set the heater in to dry it out and it took an hour and a half for it to finally dry out enough.
So I got the trailer hooked up to the car for the grain run I have done this morning already.
It took a while but the engine dried enough I could work on it.
I managed to get the timing tensioner #1 out and the new one installed. It was a contortion but it went in.
The pin holds the ram back until I am ready to release it.
So I took the top back off the motor and got the valve covers off.
That's when my heart sank. I don't think I can get the other 2 tensioners out without breaking the cams loose... I REALLY REALLY REALLY don't want to take the cover off again so am needing to figure this out from above. This side is the one with the most play in the rear chain.
But both tensioners seem way softer than the new ones so need to come out.
I left it for the day and headed inside. Earlier I was scouring for skis for R and asked @stryeyz to check fb marketplace where we found a pair of 110cm for $50 and the person is a teacher at a local school and lives on the north side so we will have them in the next few days.
I got the printer going after we had gotten home and pushed out a panel in yellow. I then ran a print with the quad and single connectors.
OV got another and is only 8 away from the record. He will do it this season most likely.
R slept a lot of the day away but he did watch some of the fight night fights and I pointed out various moves and wrestling techniques.
I grilled steaks on the Blackstone for dinner which came out delicious.
Got a little longer soak in but headed in since I had grain this morning.
It's been raining all night and this morning it was a soggy trip to town for grain. I'll go empty it in a bit now that the rain has stopped. I'll try and work on the truck, Man Utd will get destroyed as usual, get the #3dprinter going on prints, and hopefully not get to wet from the storm still floating around.
