Hi all, so I decided to adopt a kitten, with her I have now 3 cats, the others being Whisky and Buffy:
Whisky, the calico cat has been with me for 11 years, and Buffy my little black panther for 7.
I couldn't decide to adopt the new one or not because for Whisky it wasn't easy to accept Buffy and I'm not sure if she'll accept another one, and I don't know how receptive Buffy will be, but in the end I couldn't say no to the little kittens face.
Here you can see Buffy meeting her new sister... but other than that both older cats still ignore the little one, but I know it's too soon for them to get along, so far I've kept them at distance so they all can get used to each other's scents, she has been here for only two days 😅 and most of the time she hides on corners or mostly under a couch.
I'm giving them all their spaces, and extra love for Whisky and Buffy so they don't feel replaced or something like that, as for little Ginger, she doesn't eat much solid food yet so every couple of hours I take her out of her hiding spot to feed her special kitten milk and little chunks of wet food and keep her hydrated... the only problem I have is I haven't found where she goes to do her needs yet 😅 she still doesn't use her litter box, but I'm sure that as soon as I move furniture to clean up I'll find her improvized bathroom 😂
As you can see, Whisky is claiming her spot over me, but looking at me as if wondering "why human?"
I hope they get used to each other relatively easy, if you have any advice on how to get them to get along I'm all ears. I've done what I did when Buffy was adopted, like leaving their food bowls separated at first and giving each one time and space to get used to wander around the department.
On the plus side, I'm on spring break so I feel better beeing here knowing how they act instead of being half of the day out.
Ah and if you're wondering, I named her Ginger Spice, because of the red headed Spice girl 😆 I was a huge Spice Girls fan when I was a teenager so it seemed right to name her after one of the girls of the group.
Ignore the messy floor 😜 it's been really windy and dust gets everywhere... but check them out, they are being cautious with the newcomer, but I'll feel at peace as soon as I see them at least napping together, in the meantime, I'll keep treating Whisky as the queen of the apartment that she is, because today she was grumpy, she even acted angry towards Buffy 💔
I'll keep you posted on how they all start to get along as soon as it happens 😁
Hola a todos... pues decidí adoptar una gatita, con ella ahora tengo 3 gatas, las otras siendo Whisky y Buffy:
Whisky, la cálico, ha estado conmigo por 11 años, y Buffy, mi pequeña pantera negra por 7. No me decidía si adoptar o no a la nueva porque para Whisky no fue facil aceptar a Buffy y no estoy segura si aceptará a otra, y no sé que tan receptiva será Buffy, pero al final no podía decir no ante la carita de esa gatita.
Aquí pueden ver a Buffy conociendo a su nueva hermanita... pero aparte de ese rato ambas gatas mayores aun ignoran a la pequeña, pero sé es muy pronto para que todas se lleven bien, por ahora las he mantenido distanciadas para que puedan acoplarse a las esencias de cada una, apenas ha estado aquí por dos días 😅 y la mayor parte del tiempo se esconde en esquinas o mayormente bajo un sofá.
Les estoy dando a todas su espacio, y extra amor para Whisky y Buffy para que no se sientan reemplazadas o algo por el estilo, y en cuanto a la pequeña Ginger, aun no como mucha comida sólida así que cada par de horas la busco de su escondite para alimentarla con su leche especial para gatitos y pequeños trozos de comida húmeda, y la mantengo hidratada... el único problema es que no he encontrado a donde es que se va para hacer sus necesidades todavía 😅 aun no usa su arenero, pero seguramente cuando me ponga a mover muebles para limpiar encontraré su baño improvisado 😂
Como pueden ver, Whisky reclama su lugar encima de mi, pero me mira como si se preguntara "¿Por qué humana?"
Espero que se acostumbren una a la otra relativamente fácil, si tienen algún concejo sobre como hacer que se lleven bien soy toda oídos. He hecho lo que hice cuando Buffy fue adoptada, como dejarles sus tazones de comida separados al inicio y dándoles a cada una tiempo y espacio para acoplarse a merodear por el departamento.
En el lado positivo, estoy de vacaciones de pascua así que me siento mejor estando aquí sabiendo como se portan en vez de estar la mitad del día fuera.
Ah, y si se lo preguntan, la nombré Ginger Spice, por la Spice Girl pelirroja 😆 de adolescente era una gran fan de las Spice Girls así que se me hizo correcto nombrarla por una de las integrantes del grupo.
Ignoren el piso sucio 😜 ha estado haciendo demasiado viento y el polvo se mete a todas partes... pero vean como se portan, están siendo cuidadosas con la recién llegada, pero me sentiré en paz tan pronto las vea al menos durmiendo juntas, mientras tanto, continuaré tratando a Whisky como la reina del departamento que es, porque hoy estuvo corajuda, hasta se portó enojada con Buffy 💔
Los mantendré al tanto en como se empiezan a llevar bien tan pronto como suceda 😁
