Hello there, my lovely Hivers. So this is the continuation of my last blog, where I shared about visiting a cemetery in caduawan. After that, we went to San Remigio, Bus- ugon p, where my great-grandfather (my father’s grandfather) used to live.
When I was little, I met my great-great-grandfather and I clearly remember his face. He was over 100 years old, which I was so amazed at how a person could have lived in such a long years? But because he was very old, he passed away.
Sadly, when he died, we couldn’t go to his wake because it was far from our home. Only my mom and dad were able to go.
Every All Souls’ Day, we make sure to visit his grave. There's another cemetery in Daanbantayan we haven’t visited yet with my brother we want to go there but it’s too far. My parents planned to take us there, but they argued, so we didn’t go.
We like visiting cemeteries because it helps us remember where our loved ones are buried . It’s sad to think about graves that no one visits anymore.
The cemetery we visited is near at school and those schools had a history that it was a cemetery back then . When we got here it was crowded with people visiting their loved ones.
There were tents nearby selling flowers and candles, and some were selling snacks and drinks for those who got hungry.
It was hard to bring like pickups or auto into the cemetery because the space was small. Most people came on with motorcycles. We bought flowers to place on my great-grandfather’s grave.
While we were there, we met some of my dad’s relatives who live in San Remigio. They invited us to their house to talk about each life. But since it was already late in the afternoon, my parents said we would visit them another time.
When we were kids, we used to visit them more often. We would go swimming at the beach and spend time together. But now, we rarely visit because everyone is so busy and they have their own responsibilities.
At my great-grandfather’s grave, we met more of my dad’s relatives. We prayed together. There were three tombs in the spot. I don’t remember all the names because I didn’t know many of them.
My dad and his sibling lit candles so we could start praying. It felt good to visit again, pray, and see our relatives. Moments like these are special, even though life gets busy.
After visiting, we got ready to go, but we planned to swim at the beach first. My parents were still deciding who would tell our relatives that we couldn’t visit their house this time.
Life is like that—everyone has its own life, but it’s still nice to visit and remember our loved ones.
