Lunch Dilemma: Homemade Meals vs. Eating Out

in voilk •  4 months ago

I'm a big fan of food, and I don't shy away from showing my love for it. I'm a lover of good meals, and the aroma and taste are usually a delight when I cook and eat, but when it comes to my choice between eating out and preparing my own meal, I'm personally not a big fan of eating out, so I mostly prepare my own meal. Aside from the fact that it's more satisfactory, another is that it's more cost-effective and hygiene-friendly to prepare your own meal than to eat out at an eatery that would cost a fortune and where food is prepared in non-hygienic surroundings.

Food, as we all know, is a very important part of our well-being and an important part of staying alive and agile, so necessity can't be downplayed. So in order to maintain a healthy lifestyle, it's important to eat at the right time and eat well, and that brings us to the focal point of this prompt: do I eat lunch out or prepare it when I'm hungry?

This is somewhat complicated because although I prefer preparing my own meal, the hours that lunch falls into are a time when I'll still be at the office, so if it happens to be a day when I didn't come to work with my breakfast, then there's a high possibility that I'll have to settle for eating out, and on most of such days, what I eat is just snacks and some drinks to gush it down.

As a teacher, I'm mostly in the school, which is my workplace, when it's lunch time, and the most feasible way to eat lunch is definitely to eat out, as I can drive down to the house to prepare lunch and then come back to work, and neither can I be cooking on the school premises, so the best way out of such a situation is definitely to eat out.

In most cases, like I said, I prefer eating snacks during such periods, since it's just to eat something before I get home and prepare something better, but I remember throughout last week I was seriously sick and couldn't summon the strength to enter the kitchen to prepare a meal. I decided to visit eateries around me to eat during this period so I could at least eat something and use the prescribed medicine, but after just two days of visiting the eatery, my account was already going down the drain.

I mean, for instance, on the first day, I spent over 8000 thousand naira and wasn't even satisfied, and on a normal day, if I were to visit the market with that same amount, I'd be able to prepare a meal that could last me the whole day. It's quite strange, but after having to spend the same amount for like 3 days, I immediately changed my mind and vowed not to eat out again. I decided that regardless of how tired I'm, I'd just summon the little strength I can get to prepare something that would save me more money.

So that's basically it. Like I said, I'll prefer preparing my own meal for lunch, and on most days when I can't, I basically just eat snacks. But as I'm using myself as a case study, I usually go to school with my homemade breakfast and hardly eat until 12 p.m., so with that, there's hardly a need to eat out except on a few days when I don't prepare any breakfast before going to school.

That's about it for now. I hope this helps you understand my routine and perspective about eating instead of preparing my own meal. Thanks so much for your time, and have a good day.

I'll love to say happy anniversary to Ghana and my Ghanian friends on the hive Blockchain, have a wonderful and productive years ahead.
