Sightings of the Week

Here are some basic sighting of the week.

I think this is a downy woodpecker, but it could possibly be a hairy woodpecker too... Either way it was fairly tame and let me barely get a clear shot of it before scurrying up the tree.

Canadian geese are always flying around overhead. This time I was fast enough to get the camera to focus on the group before they got behind the trees.

Here's a slightly out of focus mourning dove. I might need to upgrade my Topaz AI software since they just added a sharpening out of focus feature... Who knows if it will look good though.

Here is a bad photo of a red bellied woodpecker. I thought it would make a perfect shot with its head glistening in the sun, but unfortunately my hand was too shaky and I was at full zoom and messed up the shot.

Here is the last of the duckweed and turtles. Now it is too cold for either. I'm sure the ducks will manage to stay here all winter though.

It is always nice getting your ducks in a row... I'll have to see what this place looks like this next week now that the temperatures are colder. Maybe there will be some nice reflections in the swamp with the duckweed gone.

Here are some house sparrows plotting a new nest location.

This one is looking for nest material in a sheep pen.

Plenty of bits of wool to harvest here. But it has to bounce around all the sheep pellets first.

I've seen them land on the sheep themselves and just pick wool off their backs. Sadly I haven't captured this behavior with my camera yet... Someday...

That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
