Visit to an old coffee shop

A few days ago, on December 30, I went for a walk around the city with my husband. The idea was to walk around for a while, take some pictures and before returning home, have a coffee in a nice coffee shop.

When it was time to decide where we would have coffee, I suggested the New York Mansion, a pastry shop that I had not been to for some time because it is very crowded and does not offer that intimate space that I like so much when having coffee, but that day I was in the mood for the bustle, plus I wanted to see its traditional Christmas decorations.

We arrived and indeed, there was a lot of movement inside and getting a parking spot near the entrance is not an easy task since there are other commercial establishments around it, although it has the advantage of being located in front of a large square, and you can get a safe spot there and not so far away.

We went in and there was their Christmas decoration, I think they have never changed it, it is still as attractive as the first day with its Disney mechanical dolls and its very New York fantasy corner.

Part of the attraction of this bakery-pastry shop is the variety and quality of its products, which I found has remained intact.

We went in and chose a table in a room at the end, formerly a room without air conditioning, with open windows, a sort of smoking area where the refrain of the song “un cigarrito y un café”, by Guaco, a Venezuelan musical group, was evident.

Today it is an enclosed space that overlooks a good part of the central corridor of the bakery and although nowhere does it say coffee shop the place is very friendly for lovers of this beverage and is a perfect place for those who like to deal with work issues around a good coffee or just spend a good time with family, friends or partner.

We sat down and were immediately served by a friendly young lady, and while we waited for our order, I took pictures of the place.

As an anecdote, a funny thing happened with our coffees. My husband is not much given to drinking coffee at night, even with milk, so he usually orders a small coffee, I like big coffee and what we call here a light brown. When the order arrived, the difference in the size of the cups was surprising.

My husband's coffee was minimal, while mine was a bowl, I think he drank his in one sip while I was still cooling mine, so when the portion of ham bread I had ordered arrived I refilled his cup, I was amused, his comments about the big difference between one and the other, he really felt like the kid being tricked, Ha, ha, ha.

The coffee was exquisite, creamy and as strong as I like, as for the ham bread, which is part of our culinary tradition, really very good. Not without reason, this bakery-cafeteria is one of my favorites in the city.

Note: I put the hashtag #tcsp, because the post is about a visit to a coffee shop. I remember reading a proposal on this topic of revisiting a coffee shop you hadn't been to in a while, but I don't remember which week it belongs to. Greetings, thanks for reading.
